As many of you read, my mom graduated from college on Friday.... She was thrilled that she had finally accomplished one of her life-long dreams. And, we (my sister and I) are incrediably proud!
So, my husband and I invited our mothers for dinner on Mother's Day. My sister-in-law and her family were there when my mom walked in. My mom said, "I have an announcement." She told me to sit. She asked where my husband was...
Then she said, "When I graduated I realized how good it felt to accomplish something I've always wanted.... And I've also always wanted to speak French fluently.... So, right after Labor Day, I'm moving to France. I'm selling the house and everything in it and moving to France....." My husband's mother's teeth almost fell out of her face. My mouth dropped. My husband quickly glanced at me.
Her plan is to drive across the country to visit my sister in Seattle and leave the dog with her..... Then fly to France from there. Apparently, she wants to live there for 6 months to a year (if not longer) so that she is completely immersed in the language.
Some may say she's nutso (me at times) and some may say she's got bigger balls than any guy they know.... But, now that my sister and I are out of the house, she is ready to live for herself... And I will support her completely.

Yes, you will miss her, but maybe she'll share what she learned with you when she gets back!
