Gather is a good place for many things; now I would like to hear some thoughts on a decision I am trying to make.
Until two years ago I always rented a house; at that time, thanks to the inheritance from my parents, I was able to buy my current apartment, in the Rotterdam area. I moved away from Wageningen for a variety of reasons. The apartment I rented was very expensive, and did not have any outdoor area. Second, my abusive ex-husband lived there, and by moving I avoided meeting him all the time. Third, I was under the impression that in the vicinity of Rotterdam, I could easier find a job. And four, my then boyfriend, also lives there.
Life has gone on since then. My relation with Philip has enden; fortunately, we're still friends, and he is like a father to my daughter, RoseAnna. Unfortunately, although I have taken a course to improve my job prospects, no job has materialized.
I wrote earlier about a new friend in Sneek, in the northern part of the country (currently, I live in the west). Sneek has a lot of appeal, and in the six month since I go there a lot, I have acquired more new contacts then in two years at this place.
Now I am considering selling my Capelle apartment, and relocating to Sneek. I have found an apartment there that is nice, and even bigger than my current one, for approximately the same price. But of course, selling, buying and moving isn't cheap in itself. And without a job, it sems a little risky; what if I do not find any occupation for payng the bills in the near future? On welfare, I cannot afford either place, and welfare may be in my near future; benefits from my old job will end in the summer of 2008.
So now my decision: should I take the jump, and trust that we all create our own reality? Or should I stay were I am, with no more certainty that I will have any chances in a year and a half?
I feel like taking the jump, but I'd love some input; cautions; encouragement; or whatever!
Thank you!

From what I am reading you tend to move where boyfriends and/or other friends are, what happens when they are not around anymore?
You express that you cannot find a job, I can fully understand that, what to me would be the priority is to find a job.
now you have two options, (by the way this would have been a perfect question for my group ask Carol) you can continue to look where you live now and avoid the hassle of moving, or
before you go live in sneek, you can find a job there,
unless your friends are going to support you once you get to sneek just moving to be closer to them does not seem to be a wise decision, but if you check the papers send the resumes out and land a job there, it may be a very wise move.
wish you luck and happiness and your daughter also.
featured you too :)
I was living in Germany and actually applied for jobs back in Boston, When I had a few good interviews set up, I moved back to the states. One of those interviews turned into the job I have now held for 13 years.
Thank you all again, and let the advice continue!!!
Namaste,
Manette
Good luck!
You should write an update.
But I agree that maybe you should downsize for starters...
