After seeing Prima Donna’s almost giddy post about how Glen Beck’s ratings were down on a given week, I figured a bucket of refreshing cold water should be thrown. After all if the darling of the libertarians (really, why does Prima Donna so despise the former George W. Bush basher) can loose ratings and thus merit a Gather post, then the darling of the progressives should also get a Gather post about his dismal standing in ratings.
Michael Moore's 'Capitalism' a Bust at the Box Office
“Michael Moore is destined to really hate capitalism, for his new movie ‘Capitalism: A Love Story’ appears to have totally flopped at the box office.” The link to the box office numbers is here. It started out at 7th for the weekend of 10/2 to 10/4. It went down to 9th for the weekend of 10/9 to 10/11. It kept going down to 12th for the weekend of 10/16 to 10/18. The total revenue for the 26 days as of 10/18 was $11,622,433.
Sacred Monkeys says it best, “Define irony, a movie by Moore called ‘Capitalism’ that is anti-capitalist that fails miserably due to true capitalism … the ability of ‘We the People’ to determine what we want by voting with the wallets.”
Now of course (in the style of Prima Donna) I’m not suggesting that this is the beginning of a trend, that people have finally gotten wise to the fact that behind the show and glitter, beside the curtain over on stage right is a grumpy man who doesn’t let a few things like facts get in the way of making an argument. Nor that I am suggesting that the same people have discovered the same type of con man behind the doors of the White House.
