I for one am getting tired about hearing complaints about Obama appointing people with government experience, particularly if their experience was during the Clinton years or earlier. I did not vote for change that included discarding any one with past practical experience in their field of expertise. The change that I and most voters were looking forward to is change from the policies of the Bush administration and Bush did not seek the advice of either Bill or Hillary Clinton when he was making them!
Bill and Hillary Clinton were not Obama's enemies they were political adversaries. Until the left begins recognizing them as such I will remain convinced that the most dangerous of the neo-con polices has survived and is alive and well, and the invasion of our privacy to insure that everybody is following the approved line of political thought will continue along with the attempts to ruin the careers (punish) those who do not agree with it.
That is not change I can believe in. In fact it is not even really change. It is a continuation of the intolerance that has divided our nation, and the fact that the acceptable social and economic policies may be more to my liking does not make it political policy I find acceptable.
Does anybody else who considerers him/herself left of center agree with me? If you are right of center or a centrist your opinion is also of value, but it is the many on the left that I feel are now pursuing a policy that is not in line with democratic principles just as the neo-cons did under Bush. I will not be silent and let them conclude that the source of such intolerance makes it any more acceptable than it was when the right was the culprit. It is wrong.

We {the voters} vote someone into office, they lead in the direction that they see as the best choice for the times and then the voters swing the other way and the whole mess starts all over.
The choices that Obama has to make should be motivated by the job that needs done and not by who helped him win. So far those that he has asked to join him I pleased with. I am not a big Clinton fan {of either of them} but she knows a lot of the leaders of the world and she is a good level headed leader.
Obama has set down with McCain and I have to believe that they talked about where they were different and I am hoping that they learned from each other.
You can institute a change in game plan, be it political or otherwise, using the same people, if those people are able to be versatile and follow the dictates of a new plan.
I for one am glad he is going for experience. I have reservations about Obama because his career was so short.
I feel like, however green he may or may not be, he is a deliberate man and an intelligent one. To throw away skills and experience would be foolish in the extreme; I respect the fact that he has not done so, that he has not, in my opinion, acted vindictively or in any way pettily in this. The Clintons have had a lot of support and, truly, their dreams and aspirations for this country, in my opinion, are not so far from Obama's own.
The wonder is not that he's embracing their skills and their experienced staff. The wonder would be if he didn't.
I might not hire Lewinsky, though.

I don't think you have to worry, Steph. Last I heard, Obama doesn't smoke cigars.
The largest increase in the national debt during the Bush Administration occurred when the Republicans were in control of Congress. The Dems have had a majority for the past two years only and that was such a slim majority that it could hardly be considering a controlling majority. Even most Republicans admit that the Republicans spent too freely when they were in charge.
As for Bush keeping us safe from terrorists, I also disagree with giving him all the credit. Bush did what any American president would do under the circumstances, but most of credit belongs to the people of this nation. As a nation most of us did not cringe in fear after 9/11. We hung our flags on our houses, and on our cars, and wore them on our clothing and as much as dared Bin Laden to take a shot us because we we knew he was not prepared to deal with an American people that was not paralyzed with fear of him. Personally, I think that in the long run Bush did less than most presidents would have when the target became elusive. He took his eye off the target and went after and easier military victory and we are still enmeshed in the war he go us into with that maneuver.
I think that Obama will surround himself with intelligent, articulate and responsible people. People who put country first.
