Tonight (Nov 4th 2008) is a historic occasion that I am proud to have lived through! I am so happy, my adopted country has risen above it's 'lowest common denominator' mentality and for the first time in it's history elected a person of color to be it's President.
I am pleased to have witnessed this day... (did I say I was happy with the out come?) ;>P...

"Yes we can"
And honestly, while I think Obama's intelligence and clarity of expression clearly had a lot to do with the landslide, the Republicans have messed up so badly that any Democrat would have had an excellent chance of winning. You can fool some people some time, but things have now reached the "can't fool all the people all the time" point.
Now, we must do it.
I'm proud of my country again, at least for the moment.
You had to break this down to your lowest common denominator- race.
I however look at President- Elect Obama and see an intelligent person who is willing to look at both sides of an issue and work with both sides to reach some type of workeable solution that we could all live with.
This became about 'race' when people like you made it about race.
AND as Aniko said:
