It looks like the Democrats may be to busy working on party unity to work on defeating John McCain.
With convention floor antics like;
"Aug 25th, 2008 | DENVER -- A black delegate for Hillary Rodham Clinton says she was called an "Uncle Tom" by Illinois Senate President Emil Jones, one of Barack Obama's political mentors."Salon.com
And outside the convention;
Aug. 26, 2008 | DENVER -- "This is where you see the civil war!" burbled Chris Matthews, experiencing near-asphyxiatory pleasure on an outdoor stage in the sweltering Denver heat, while behind him two competing groups, Obama supporters and the PUMA (Party Unity My Ass) backers of Hillary Clinton, chanted "Obama! Obama!" and "Hillary! Hillary!" at each other. Matthews looked as though he might wet himself as a camera panned the crowd, and he declared, "We're at ground zero!" Salon.com
The Dems have even given Hillary her own party whips to make sure the voting goes as scripted.
WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's delegates will have their own organizers on the floor of the Democratic National Convention, an unusual move at a convention that is being billed as unified.
Meanwhile the McCain is running campaign ads during the Dems convention featuring a young Hillary supporter who has decided to support McCain.
Day one was indeed a party unity effort With Senator Kennedy making an appearance and Michelle Obama being the keynote speaker with children on stage waving to Papa who was watching the goings on in some supporters home in Kansas city.
So how did they do? was there a convention day one bump for Obama?
Nope!
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Barack Obama attracting 44% of the vote while John McCain also earns 44%. When "leaners" are included, it's still tied with Obama at 46% and McCain at 46%. Yesterday, with leaners, Obama had a three-point advantage over McCain.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the convention goes, but if this is how they plan on beating McCain I'm a very happy Republican.

I would not count les poulets until they come home to roost after your convention.
Did not know that,
McCain is trying to take advantage of the Hillary faction who are not happy with Obama, I think he has much to benefit by letting them know some have already changed sides.
Gallup just reported McCain took a 2 point lead over Obama today.
These conventions are simply another tax payer funded public party, they are all choreographed and largely (at least in the public eye) dissent free. Any bumps like those you mentioned are going to be largely ignored by the party faithful.
I can't disagree with you but considering the closeness of the past couple of elections, I believe McCain trying to draw a few disgrunteled democrats to his side is wise politicing.
The Democrats have to realize that lots of people are not happy. They are giving us an inexperienced candidate who acts more like a rock star than a serious politician. This will be an easy win for John McCain.
McCain, no surprise, is now ahead in the polls. Shouldn't Obama have gotten a bounce after selecting his VP and during the convention?
What do you think the answer is?
I think we need to make sure new businesses are as strong as poissible so they can hire more people, which means keeping taxes low on new businesses.
Thanks
