Crossing the party line,
Every candidate wants the voters to believe that they are going to work with the opposition to get accomplished the much needed work of the congress done.
If history is an example of willingness to cross party lines,,,, well lets take a look.
According to the Washington post's U.S. Congress votes database, of the 31 "key" votes that have taken place in the Senate since 2005, of the votes tallies Barack Obama has only been willing to vote against the party line 3% of the time.
John McCain has however voted against the Republican Party line 16% of the time.
Now Senator McCain's record may not appeal too many of us as conservatives but it certainly shows that of the two candidates it is not Obama that will work with the other party to get things accomplished.
According to the NationalJournal's 27th annual vote ratings
Obama is rated as the most liberal senator in 2007 with a 95.5 composite liberal score which is up from his 10th place of 86.0 in 2006 and his 16th place of 82.5 in 2005.
In the Democratic primary the argument of who was most liberal Hillary or Barack was quiet revealing with Hillary supporters pointing out that Barack voted the "liberal" position 65 out of 66 times as opposed to Hillary 77 out of 82.
There you have it folks you want a super liberal go ahead and vote for Obama

You did a great job on this article. It's super analysis laid out for all to see if anyone chooses to pass this way. I gave you a 10!
We McManiacs should get together on Gather and write a similar piece comparing McCain to Bush. This whole thing the Dems are pushing (i.e., Bush/McCain or McCain Bush) is driving me NUTSO!!! It is clear to me that the Dems are using the unpopularity of President Bush to put people off of taking another, more critical, look at McCain. When the ads say "McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time!" I want to scream. Don't these people mean that "McCain voted with the Republicans!" What is wrong with people! Did they flunk Civics 101 - The Congress makes the law - The President carries out the laws (except when he invents it through signing statements) - The Judicial Branch interprets the law!
McCain could not have voted with Bush. Bush did make any laws! He can't!
Ping me or send me an e-mail if any of you guys would like to stamp out this Bush/McCain thing. My idea is that we could take each maybe one of several background areas(e.g., military, education) and/or one particular position statement (e.g., immigration, education) and write up some comparison. I think this will be helpful all around to open people's eyes.
Thanks again, Dan.
Hang in there we have an exciting election coming up this year.
Although I am not pleased with what Russia is doing it puts to the front of the mind just exactly how important experience is in a President and people are responding I believe that is the reason Obama has lost the 5% lead in the polls he had a couple of months ago.
