Two weeks ago. the U.S. House of Representatives asked Attorney General Michael Mukasey to refer contempt citations levied against Josh Bolten and Harriet Miers to a Federal Grand Jury.
Bolten and Miers were issued subpoenas to appear before Congress and testify or provide documentation about the firings of federal prosecuters. President Bush, citing executive priviledge, informed Congress that they would not appear.
On Friday, Mukasey informed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that the Justice Department would not refer them to the Grand Jury. He also said there would be no other attempt to prosecute Bolten and Miers for anything.
Pelosi quickly anniunced that she had given the House Judiciary Committee the go ahead to file a civil lawsuit against Bolten and Miers.
"The American people demand that we uphold the law," Pelosi said.
So where do the "talking heads" stand on this one. Should Bolten and Miers testify? Refered to the grand jury? Do you agree with Mukasey? Do you agree with a civil lawsuit?
