Another View of the Meyers assault

Naomi Wolf addresses the Anthony Meyers assault by campus police.
“It is an iconic turning point and it will be remembered as the moment at which America either fought back or yielded. This violence against a student is different from violence against protesters in the anti-war movement of 30 years ago because of the power the president has now to imprison innocent U.S. citizens for months in isolation. And because, as I have explained elsewhere, we are not now in a situation in which ‘the pendulum’ can easily swing back. That taser was directed at the body of a young man, but it is we ourselves, and our Constitution, who received the full force of the shock.”

I could not agree more.

I think she is correct. We need to do something or we will lose all our freedoms that so many fought and died for to protect. Freedom isn't free. We have to take a stand for something or we'll fall for anything, like the song says. Good article.

I said to my wife a long time ago, "As soon as we get the first picture of a woman laying face down, dead in the sand along side the a road we don't know the name of, this will all change."

Over these handful of painful years, I've seen points sure it was the last straw.

I don't know what happened to my America. Where has it gone?

We went to the local family day this past weekend, wearing our Impeach Bush T shirts. A lot of people nodded, many shaking my head. One woman asked me, "There was a lot of buzz about that on the TV some time ago. Why don't I hear anything now?"

"Because," I answered. "You've kept your mouth shut."

Anthony Meyers is the student who was tasered in Florida at a Kerry appearance.

Meyers was on the floor with four officers on him when he got tasered. He got tasered for the satisfaction of the officers.

I thought the very same thing. Frenemy, are you saying the whole thing was staged? I don't get it. Anyway, it was the police who started the riot, not Anderew who was only asking a question.
As for resisting, lets see how your instincts react next time you are accosted by five people by surprise for doing nothing but asking a question. By the way, his question was very valid, even Kerry said so. So duh....

Douglas Adams put it perfectly Anthony Meyers being tases is an SEP. SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEM. As long as we see suppression of rights as and SEP, we will be subject to having our own rights suppressed.
