Libertarian Presidential candidate Steve Kubby (www.kubby.com) has stated to me how he would work to end our dependence on forign oil.

First he would require that all new military and government vehicles run on a renewable fuel such as biodiesel. Then retrofit all other vehicles the same way. This would advance the technology and make it a viable fuel source.

Although he supports bringing the troops home from Iraq, and a policy of non intervention he has said that if we did have to go to war or were ever attacked we would not rely on the middle east to run our vehicles.

Libertarians foreign policy of non-intervention assumes that we are living in the 1700's - at least that's how it seems to me. Their policy puts us in a national defense mode - we stand our ground within our borders - and that's it. It let's tyrancial states grow unchecked, and does not take into account many threats possible from technological advances. This is why they are and will always be on the fringe.

I have to agree with Don and go so far as to say thats partly this Presidents problem..he thinks Texas is in the 1800's and is still a country within itself and dosent have to account to anyone else...they are the law....We cannot stay with in our borders any more than we can change a religious belief in the Middle East... coming to the aid of a country that has asked for our assistance is one thing...our troops standing along side the country forces....not the way we went into this war....and I am not a car expert, but my common sense tells me that to change all of the vehicles and have them run on biodiesel, would be no easy, fast or inexpensive task....its possible yes, as fast as we would need to do it...not probable...

I think the non-intervention policy will place the country in a great deal of danger. While I believe in many libertarian principles, I don't think what he is saying makes sense in our current situation.

our forign policy is why we are hated arround the world today. Our forign policy helped to train Bin Laden, and Saddam to fight the Russians.

Non intervention does not mean isolationist. We would still have a strong relationship with the world we simply would not have to get involved in every conflict around the world.

Not really sure what to comment on. I personally think any from of renewable energy source is good. Though on the other hand requiring Military and government vehicles to run on it just does not sound like an important issue to be focusing on. We first need to find a good reliable source of renewable energy for our vehicles that all Americans can afford. I think we need to focus on America and how we can improve our own Country and come up with a resonable solution to solve our Middle Eastern problems.
