While visiting the Krohn's Conservatory Butterfly Exhibition 2008 in Cincinnati Ohio, I found the butterflies were not the only interesting things to look at. There were statues, or I guess you would call them statuettes since they were smaller, and tapestries and even some ceremonial clothing. There was also a kids area where the kids got to make butterfly masks. I thought the group of photos I took of these things deserved their own article! LOL
The first thing I noticed was the sign outside the main building. It made it sort of easy to tell we had the right place LOL.

I liked this decoration as well, it was something we saw on the way into a little tented area where we paid to go in.

I love this photo, boys will be boys! The decorations caught his interest too! I thought he was a cute little kid.

Here is a close up of one of the decorations. It was very ornamental! I liked it and loved the colors.

Once inside the main butterfly room we saw this neat display/decoration which involved some costumes and ceremonial dress aned other items.

Here was a beautiful dragon hiding in the flowers and lush greenery. He came out to say hello.

This sculpture (?) was in the desert room after leaving the main butterfly room. Ironically the desert room was slightly cooler then the butterfly room! Everyone else was hurrying ahead of me trying to get to air conditioning so I didn't get a very good photo of it but I still think it is a cool piece.

Here is a decorated colored / painted glass panel. I thought it was pretty too. It was also in the desert room.

The place did have a "Chinese" theme to it. These clothes were draped around a lot of areas. I thought they were pretty. I have always been fascinated by foreign characters.

We all thought this one was really phallic! LOL

I love this guy, I want one for my home. He is so pleasant to look at! I rubbed his belly for good luck!

I think these are absolutely beautiful. They remind me of a kung fu movie! There is a lot to be said for old wise men, do not ignore them young grasshopper, you have much to learn...

I think this dragon is the baby of the one in the main butterfly area. LOL

Here was some caligraphy on the wall! I love doing caligraphy / drawing chinese character's in black on white background. It always looks so beautiful. It is probably saying "We have your money now go home you sucka" but it is still gorgeous! LOL

Here is a pretty tapestry in the air conditioned kid's activity room! I love how the butterflies are woven throughout!

This was my favorite of all the tapestries we saw. I think this is absolutely gorgeous.

Here was more of the fancy clothing. I love the colors.

Here are the kids working on a craft in the kid's activity room.

They made butterfly masks to wear, I love the eyelashes on the one it is too cute.....

Serenity and peace... I need one of these for my home. He was just sitting quietly in the corner.

This one was guarding one of the doorways to get back into the main butterfly area. It caught my eye because someone had written "God will always provide" on the sash and I thought it was pretty.

Here was a miniature weaponry display in the main room

Here were some faces/totems/gargoyles in the last room. They were near the gift shop and exit but I still liked them. I was fascinated bythe details carved into them.

Here was a family photo taken by my friend Jes. We were sitting on a really cool butterfly bench.

Here are my friends Trish and Jesica. They are the ones who told us about the Butterfly Exhibit. I am so glad. We had a really nice day with them! They have been my friends for about 18-19 years. That is a long time!! We all went to high school together! They are the greatest!

The bench was so cool I thought it deserved a photo all by itself. I want one of these for our back yard!! I loved it!!

Hope you enjoyed this portion of my visit to Krohn's Conservatory Butterfly Exhibition 2008!

Girly Comments & Graphics
colorful and very interesting kimber, thank you. *smiles*
You were right this deserved a separate article. Loved the tapestry you picked and that last statue with the red ribbon. Just gorgeous.
I think the miniature weapon collection is a collection of hair ornaments for the Geisha, when they put up their hair. LOL, although I'm sure those ornamental hair pins would work fine as a weapon.
Thanks for the tour - it was beautiful!
Nicely done , love the pictures!!!!
thanks for sharing
Thanks for taking us along, as said above, we would not have seen it without you.

There is a butterfly conservatory in chicago...we went about 10 years ago when my daughter was about 9....I wore a red sweater and was covered in butterflies...it was very cool! But the staff had to pluck them off before I could leave! LOL!
Cleveland Zoo has a great butterfly conservatory and Niagara Falls does... though I have tried to go to that one a zillion times and never seem to make the right times..
Great pictures!!
hope you are well.
