Just looking at these two pictures from the group's banner, is this ha ha political parody, or pure anti-black racism ???
The Obama pic is subtle unless you know that the big ole malt beer spliced in Obama's hand is a derogatory black drunk ghetto cliche.
As far as how grotesque the President's wife has been made to look, that reaches new historical heights in nasty mocking in politics - the Conservatives are now showing their evil insides, and with loud bold pride.
Usually Presidents' wives are left out of the insults. As awful as Bush W turned out to be in most every way, and the Conservatives complained about how he was mocked for it, his wife was never dragged in.
This is pure mean racism. And it's racism by the original definition (not the new Republican one) - where blacks are thought of as inferior by whites, and mocked accordingly.

I looked over the photos and they are all bad. I think what the owner of the group has done to these photos of President Obama demonstrates how exageratedly fearful this group is.
The most sad picture was that of a very young Obama, maybe in 1st 0r 2nd grade, had the numbers 666 put on his forehead. Someone who would do that to a child photo is on the demented side.
This is just plain f@@@@ bullshit!!! I feel all the Hate sputing out!!
The other countries are saying just stand back.....AMerica will destroy themselves just watch and wait...
The one wearing the dirty white shorts? Like I said..."trailer trash"!
You can live in a trailer that is all rust, and is surrounded with dogs bones and cars on cinder-blocks, and whatever, and not be "trash" in your heart.
You can live in a nice house and pull a big salary and be total trash, for sure.
You can't be trailer trash you are to good of person to be trailer trash!!
Is there a Confederate flag waving out there ???
there is a huge difference
Get your torches ready the Zombies will be here soon!!!
The old cartoons that I grew up with used to depict all black people as idiots and criminals. For many years, I wasn't sure what to believe. On the one hand, I watched the black people getting on the "L" train in the morning to go to work and on the other hand, I heard so many white people joke around about their lazy and incapable ways of life. After Martin Luther King died, my parents moved us out to the suburbs. Our neighborhood was one of the Chicago neighborhoods that went up in flames followed by looting and rioting. I lived on the "white" side of the tracks and never had any encounters with black people up to this point in my life. I only knew what I saw on the news about the civil rights movement and the words of Lyndon Johnson.
An unintended consequence of moving to the suburbs was that I was sent to an integrated high school. So, I sat in classrooms with black people and made a few black friends. I learned that these stereotypes and jokes were not accurate at all. In fact, I met intelligent and thoughtful blacks who were great fun and just as involved in living their lives with integrity as all of the white people in my family. The times were quickly changing at that time. I embraced the civil rights movement. Perhaps, I understood because I was coping with differing feelings from others due to my sexuality. Dad and I argued about our system of segregation. I believed in integration. It never came to be in a serious way in our society. And, blacks as well as whites don't care much about integration. The civil rights movement changed the laws and altered the culture forever.
These regressive pictures and attitudes are very tiring. People are just people. Life is difficult enough. I mentioned this on another article. My grandmother used to tell us that if we can't help people, don't hurt them. I think that we are so lucky to have an intelligent man in the White House for a change. Is his race really all that important? It isn't what you are that matters. It is what you do that matters. Let's give this elected leader a chance. Racism has no place in society anymore. I would suggest that racism has no place on Gather, either.
there are plenty of us out here.
Oh no only a few can do this!!! Remember !!! lol
AMEN yes Nellie I yelled it are your ears ringing yet??lol
And to publicly mock his wife's appearance like that just takes new heights in the very low of appalling crass manners.
(and they usually go far in how they mock people's facial features)
I pared down my "connections" to the bone recently...and am very pleased I did. Had I been connected? To any? I would have cut the connection immediately.
The names of the members sure do look familiar.
Green ones, and butterflies, and teddy bears....

I usually give people the benefit of the doubt, but I am really sick to my stomach of all those hateful, uncaring people. I don't want them in my daily life in person or on the internet. I'm open-minded to other people's ideas and opinions, but most of these people are non-thinkers.
Peace and have a good day...it is beautiful and sunny here...80! No rain...YET!
If they had just kept it at politics, and "sucks", then nobody would care if it existed.
I agree with you 100%

Peter Joseph :
Thanks for this wonderful Information.
We should fight every day against Racism, Homophobia, Ethnophobia, Hatred, and all the Bullies of the World that want to prey on weak people or small people.
These people of "Obama Sucks" are clearly Imbeciles and Idiots. They should have the Hoods and White Sheets of the KKK in their closets. Probably as a legacy of their Grandparents that organized picnics to hang Black Men from trees.
Picnics with children, food and refreshment and even the dogs.
There are books where the photos of these Lynching Picnics are preserved for posterity.
Thanks again Great Friend of Kindness and Humanity !

I am glad my son is grown already to raise a son (my son has to raise his son in this ) in this day! How can we teach them not to hate when its shoved down their throats.
Kinda like roaches under the sink. Too bad they won't scatter when you hit the kitchen light.
I'm sure most are aware that Gather has demanded that certain so called "liberals" not comment on certain right wing members posts, yet they do NOTHING about hateful individuals SPAMMING so called "liberal" articles" with attempts to high jack the posts and reframe the articles!
I'm not a big fan of screaming "racist" because people across the spectrum let it get out of control...but THIS IS RACISM.
If a child asked why Michelle Obama looked like that how would you explain it to them? I really want to know what anyone in that group would say about it.
im pretty sure that particular banner wasn't there when the group was first formed.
Lori, if I were in the group for the purpose of agreeing with Obama sucking then I would be so upset to find out that the banner was this. It's good you messaged your connections just in case they weren't aware.
Bad is to good of a name for some of these people they are just down right EVIL.
And a person could join the group just to argue with it - that's for sure.
I only stay on for a while, because I usually can't stand it for long.
Michael Steele (spit, spit!) writes to me on a regular basis...
It gives me a forum to write FROM.
So ask, before we judge others. WHY are you joined to this group of loooooozers?
Wilka
Now, I also will say I don't think most people who don't like him are racist. It isn't always about the color of his skin. However, in this case, I think it is, 100%, and it's both disgusting, and wrong.
Shame on people for supporting such a group! You can dislike the president, and even be vocal about it, without resorting to pictures like those above.
No president we have ever had (or will ever have) has been perfect and no presidency has been without controversy but this goes beyond political dissent to hate speech. I don't think we've seen such filth since all the Protestants lambasted Kennedy for being a Catholic. "Horrors! A Catholic president!" *shriek* "It's the end of the world!"
And now he is highly regarded as one of the most effective Presidents. *sigh* And what about the uproar over Roosevelt's New Deal? Also, now considered one of our greatest Presidents.
People have short memories and apparently no one every reads a history book anymore.
no, actually you are right, it is racism.
It's extremely rare for me to visit a group's homepage, so I'm not sure what the homepages of all the groups I belong to look like, so I can't blame anyone who joined the group in the past if the bannner was different than the current one. If the banner was the same (as above) when the person joined, then I don't want to have anything to do with that person.
That Scooter is such a scamp. :)

Well I don't have to tell you about the response I received. I immediately removed him from my friend's list and moved on.
Peter, I'm so glad it was you and not me who posted this article. I would have been called every name in the book and accused of playing the race card.
I'd like to thank you for exposing the deep hatred of our duly elected 44th President. The fact that President Obama is not the first President to call for affordable health care for all Americans and is not the first Pro-Choice President and is not the first President to increase the national debt and is not the first President to want to speak to school children leads me to believe that the hysteria, hatred and lunacy we see by those on the Right runs deeper than just policy. There's something else going on here and I believe that you and those whom responded to this article have hit the nail on the head.

I'll FEATURE it for all to see.

This article is now our latest FEATURED post. Keep up the good work.
Your friend.

Yeah!!!
I have considered leaving because of the idiocy and the vile lies
I recognize hate in all it's forms and truly it hurts me to think that some people can justify this kind of hate.
As much as they want to deny it is racism pure and simple and if they want to turn it and call me a racist so be it , an angry childs temper tantrum doesn't bother me in the least.
I am so glad most of us have grown out of it.
Right out in the open - here on gather?
They changed the banner after their group was outed?
DISGUSTING - I find it hard to believe that gather would continue to allow the existence of such a group - it's pure ignorance and hate incarnate.
