Yep, you heard it right: George Obama was arrested for marijuana possession in Kenya. And I can already hear Rush Limbaugh gearing up with glee and gusto (I know that was a pretty pointless sentence, but I wanted the alliteration).
George Obama is denying the charges, but really who cares: He either had it or he didn't. But either way, how does that affect us as Americans? It's true he is the president's half-brother, the same president that was pretty up front in his book about his cocaine use. So is there a connection between the family and drug use?
Barack said in his book he met George Obama once in Kenya and it was a pretty sad affair. But you know what, I have plenty of friends who use marijuana and I think it's pretty much blown out of proportion. I mean, what do you get up to when you're high? Don't know about you, but I just sit around and talk about all the stuff I'd do to change the world for the better. If I wasn't high that is.
So I say cut George Obama some slack. It can't be easy living in the slums of Kenya, and if a little marijuana makes life easier, then I say let him have it. And having Barack as a half-brother can't be easy. I mean, my brother's a banker and my parents are always asking why I can't be more like him. Imagine having a brother who's the leader of the free world?
Man, that just makes me want to light up...

(if he bites his lip, I wonder if he'll explode)
1) Boy, I hope no one ever tries to imply I'm somehow responsible for what my half-brother, who lives in another country and who I've barely spoken to in my life, does. That's pretty *&%@$#% stupid.
2) I agree, we're too bent out of shape about that particular drug, and not enough about a lot of worse things.
It's a given that famous people are responsible for the behavior of every member of their family. :)
Well, wouldn't wingnuts like Limbaugh just love that.
About the same way that we were affected when the Bush kids were arrested for drugs? When a Bush was stopped for not declaring what she bought while on vacation? When the Bush twins were photographed doing things that are illegal and silly? If I rememer correctly, that affected normal Americans NOT AT ALL.
If Barack is going to help out one half sibling, then he really should help out the other ones. And what about all their mommas? They would need to come out of Kenya too - you can't take the children without the parents - then what about all the other present husbands - they would want to come with the mamas. Then, of course, the ex-wives of all those husbands would be upset, because the baby-daddies would be gone for their kids. It's a pretty large extended family with many husbands and wives. I'm not sure the white house has room enough for all those people.
Let Obama be President and see what HE does.
I don't see where any of this should have in impact on our current president. Family-wise, leave it to their family to work it out. Politically-wise, leave it alone.
They want Obama's brother to be taken out the slums and brought to America.
That's wingnut logic.
as to pot smoking, well, the best reason NOT to smoke pot is that buying the stuff is creating a chain of cause and effect that results in lots of people being murdered in Mexico. for me, the health effects of pot are less significant than the fact that its illegal status means that you are funding a criminal enterprise every time you buy it.
Neal "Silverado" Bush, who was able to take standards testing from a few million dollar a year industry, with gift of "No Child's Behind Left", and turn it into a multi-billion dollar industry. Brother in the White House?
