I like Obama well enough to gladly vote for him if he wins the nomination.
But it seems like so many of the Obama fans are so anti-everybody else that if he doesn't win they are sunk and the Dems are fractured. Has his passionate campaign really divided the Dems so badly so early in the campaign? I don't hear Hillary fans trashing Obama but boy am I hearing a lot of Obama fans trashing Hillary !!!!
Hillary might win the Democratic nomination.
Are many Obama fans all going to vote Republican if he loses?

(He's got a nice face, for sure)

If it was all white men we'd just be on the usual party issues.
I'm not sure that the race and sex issues (as they're currently being brought up) have anything to do with the Presidential issues.
Who is Barack Obama?
Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHIEST from Wichita, Kansas.
Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii. When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia. When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.
Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school."
Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education.
Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his, stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta. Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking Major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama hasm joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background.
ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Kuran (Their equivalency to our Bible, but very different beliefs)
Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential candidacy. The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level - through the President of the United States, one of their own!!!!
Please forward to everyone you know. Would you want this man leading our country?...... NOT ME!!
If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all your contacts.........this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us here in our own United States........ better heed this and pray about it and share it.
THIS DEFINITELY WARRANTS LOOKING INTO. THIS COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED, "ONE NATION UNDER GOD". ALMIGHTY GOD, NOT THE GOD OF THE KORAN.
We checked this out on " snopes.com". It is factual. Check for yourself
He is promising a lot of glorious change !!!
I have no problem with women as leaders- if they are educated, experienced and able- they should go for it. The best leaders in the world- have been women incidently.
I also have a favorite in the Republican party..
I just haven't made my mind up yet- and frankly- until the various parties have made their nominations- its a joke. This is just a feeling out time..a weeding out time...
so- best of luck to whomever gets their parties nominations- and may the best person win!
I will definitly cast a vote- I earned that franchise.. and its my duty- as a citizan to do that. So many cradle born americans- don't vote. Its their choice also to do that too- but knowing how hard certain groups have fought to get that franchise- not to mention create the franchise- I think its a shame that those who can don't vote.
Please Vote- lets have a Real counting of the citizans in the USA!
Otherwise- all of this is a moot point.
Wolfgang
I'm guessing that one is being spread by conservatives.
May I borrow your crystal ball sometimes?
That would give us more"Bush", I say.
Thank you for the article. I cannot answer the question, though; sorry.
I am not an Obama fan.
How many women this year will vote from their hips?
(I don't think many men will)
but as far as being a fan? He is not a rock star, and he cannot dance.
And I warned her: This comment I just made should be an article !!!
I think they are all very exciting candidates. I'm glad that the primaries and convention will choose FOR ME who to vote for.
Two years- doesn't make one a Christian.
Secondly- if your cradle born Islamic- especially a son- and you apostisize from your religeon (thats a major sin in the Islamic faith) you become a living target- you are at risk of being killed. Sons are held in high regard in that particular faith/discipline.
Incidently- if you look up that particular Church that he goes too- which I did- you will be somewhat surprised. Its very Afro-centric..I don't think your average WASP would be going to that particular church. Its not a bad thing- in fact I think its good that such places exist- young Afro-Americans need that footing- their heritage- and that is good.
You might want to investigate that.. it is interesting.
Its just not my cup of tea. In fact- I would be more apt to vote for Senator Jackson- he is a good motivator and has done alot for many young people- no matter what race they were. Not to mention- Colin Powell...he too would be a good canidate. Condileeza Rice would be a good canidate. All these people are experienced, smart and good leaders. They have been involved in a high degree of leadership at every level. Ms. Rice- led a major university before going on to the white house. They are proven. What has Mr. Obama done? Really? I know he is a Senator- but I have never heard of anything other than that. I know he is well educated- and spending alot of his campaign time dissing his opponents- which isn't good debate form. Race and Gender is another aspect that I find troubling in this election- too much is being said about it- instead of looking at the problems that need to be contended with. We have too many big issues at the time to be squabbling over petty things like Race and Gender.
We have some real knowen quantities running for office- their experiences need to be analyzed and judged accordingly. They need to be listened to closely, not just elected because they are young, and have a grand smile.
Wolfgang
But if the experienced ones on the Dem side don't win, I'm NOT voting for an experienced Reagan-clone wanna-be (at least one of the Republicans are, in my opinion) !!!!
Not only is the Senator looking GQ, which is not surprising, since he did make their cover in September 2007, but he is also looking very Presidential, which is also not surprising since he shall raising his hand looking at the Chief Supreme Court Justice, swearing to defend the Constitution of the United States in January 2009. . .
but also,
Senator Barack Obama
Sir,
Oh Baby. . .you are looking hot!
Hell of FINE!
Good Pic!
Maybe you have talked me into this "fan" thing after all, Peter!
Thanks!
----- You don't hear Hillary fans trashing Obama??? For real?
ROCK the VOTE!
That's for the the Senator
Sorry Peter! This time it was not for you!
I think she stepped on a WHOLE lot of toes there!
WORD!!!!!!!!
Other things? Do tell.
How many Hillary supporters would vote for Obama if he won the nomination?
How many Obama supporters would vote for Hillary if she won the nomination?
Carol L. - and the name of the planet you live on would be?
betterment of all people? Or have we become so synical that we can't imagine a novice accomplishing anything. At this point I would love to try a novice as a pposed to the same old BS we have gotten. Or am I missing something that others see?
Gads.. I heard today that Pakistan now wants American Military help..they think they may have a problem now that they cannot handle..
Isn't that a hoot!
There are many ways to gain leadership experience if one intends to eventually be commander - in - chief and president of the great country.
Education is just the start...
Wolfgang
Obama could be an EXCELLENT President but I think he would still let a lot of his supporters down - the political system isn't set up to change too much too fast (unless you cut out Congress and the Courts).
It certainly won't change to some Islamic Marxist State of Carol L !!!
The kind of change his fans are expecting is both Obama's and his fan's biggest problem. While I don't think Obama is planning to turn our world upside while at the same time unifying us, he has not been clear about about what he means by change, and that has left both his fans and enemies free to to believed it represents whatever they want it to represent. I used "enemies" in the preceding sentence to distinguish them from the people who who simply support other candidates or are uncomfortable with the concept of undefined "change".
The latter will probably support Obama if he become the Democratic nominee because there is no acceptable alternative among the Republican candidates and while we support other candidates, in my case Hillary, we do not and will accept that idea the Obama was forever tainted by having attended as Islamic school for a brief period as a child or any other such nonsense which include outright lies such as the the claim than he chose to use a Koran when he was sworn in and to many of us the idea that a black cannot be a good president is as equally unacceptable as the idea that a woman cannot be a good president.
Obama's fans also do not believe the racist or outrageous claims of his enemies, but for many their support and perhaps even the rejection of the negative claims about him is largely based on "faith" in their candidate. Accepting a candidate on the basis of pure faith leaves that candidate vulnerable to the risk of disappointing the faithful by doing something that shatters that faith and If that faith is shattered their disaffection with him may extend to the entire process that produced him.
If Obama does not win the nomination, the latter disaffection will extend to those whose support is based solely on dissatisfaction with the entire political system. History has shown that When those who lack faith in our political system suddenly become involved in it they can just as suddenly become uninvolved if the system does not go along with them. We saw that in the 1968 election and there is that risk with many of Obama's supporters especially those who expect change to include some sort of peaceful revolution. Many McCarthy supporters abandoned the system and refused to participate in 1968 election and we ended up with Nixon as our president.
Even if Obama get the nomination and get elected I do not think there will be any revolution and his failure to produce one will result in feeling of betrayal and dejection by those who are now his most ardent supporters and Republican party will try to take full advantage of making that happen to give them the same advantage in 2012 that Regan had in 1976. Running against the outsider who disappointed those who expected a peaceful revolution.
The combination of the disappointment of former adherents and the opposition of the neocons and the simply Republican faithful could produce a a Republican victory in either 2008 or 2012 or both if we allow faith to overcome reason.
Obama has the potential for being a fine president someday, but that day is not yet here and for that reason I support the only candidate who has proven she can take the heat generated by the Republican machine and win. She proved that by winning over both Independents and Republicans when she ran for the Senate in New York. Everything that could be thrown at Hillary has been thrown and she has survive to become the leading candidate for President of the United States. In New York she did it with the votes of Republicans and Independents as well as the Democratic faithful. and she can do it on the national level.
Hillary probably will not produce the kind of dramatic change for which Obama supporters hope, but it will be change in the right direction. She has spent her life fighting the powerful special interests on behalf of those who had little or no voice, and she has been successful enough make those same powerful special pour money into her coffers in hopes of softening the blows if she does get elected. If it does soften the blows it will only be because some compromise brings us closer to universal health care, a good educational for all of our children, and opening the door to opportunity to all of our people is preferable to keeping those doors closed as they have been under Bush.
Obama would also try to open those doors, but I don't think he has savy or experience to succeed to the degree which Hillary will succeed and any failure on his part be more crushing to his supporters than they will be Hillary's supporters. If we don't succeed we will simply roll up our shirt sleeves, tighten the strings on our figurative boxing gloves and keep on sparring with the opposition until we win everything for which we are fighting. Learning not giving up in the face of opposition is how Hillary has inspired us and we will do what necessary to move our nation closer to achieving ours and Hillary's goals for our nation.
You're thinking right up my alley so far.
I want Obama to be vice President so that in eight years he has the experience - what's eight years?!!! Nobody can call him "green" then (and he can make so many "friends" in Congress in that time).
Then the Republicans will shake in their boots at a force like that. Just as I think Edwards and Hillary have worked hard and long and now deserve it, he can have that too.
I think that at age 44 I now have a thing about experience and I like the idea of being in the system to know it and be able to navigate it. Washington D.C. is a nasty jungle.
This election is one of the most important in our history and the other party must be ripped from power.
Between answering your question and putting in my plug for Hillary it was destined to be a long comment, but since the hour for free long distance calls has arrived I have to get off Gather now and make some calls for Hillary.
Well thanks to you both and things sound good for 2008.
How cool is that?!!!
The times they are a. . . a . . . a . . .a . . .seems like I
have heard that old song before, Hmmm.
I. . .I. . .I
Oh, I remember: The times they are a Changin'
Yeah, that's it! (hint, hint). Are we getting it, yet?????
Your candidates already have.
Senator Barack Obama had enough experience to NOT be fooled by
George W. Bush!!! Hmmm.
Like it or not, Hillary is going to lose. Accept it.
Haha.
Make them calls!
Make them calls!
Faster!
Faster!
Senator Barack Obama also felt the pulse of this country.
It is called:
***********WE WANT CHANGE***********
and everybody has gotten the message,
including our Republican friends
and jumping on that bandwagon NOW!
Know why?
Because,
the times . . .uh they are a. . . a. . .a
Hmmmm..
Make them calls
faster
faster!
looking good up there, Mr. President-elect!
Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
My ONLY concern is can a green guy work in the Washington D.C. system to get ANYTHING done. Much of ANYTHING (let alone the moon and the stars).
I think Edwards would be the best for that. He doesn't seem to work up such HATE.
Hillary has far more valuable experience but too many people hate her just because she's HILLARY, and nothing much else (at least not that I hear rationally articulated). But Edwards might not win. Hillary is consistently doing better than Edwards in the polls.
Go figure.
(His Presidency got bogged down in foreign policy he handled BADLY - he had NO EXPERIENCE !!!)
maybe the change would be good..
Of course.. I am speaking with my tongue in cheek.
ja... Obama stands for change ...
Wolfgang
I like Obama. I'm not saying I'll vote for him... yet, but I won't rule it out and I'd vote without any hesitation for any of the Democratic front-runners before I'd cast a vote for any of the Republicans in the running.
There will be 3 supreme court justices to be picked in the next 8 years. The thought of her picking Bill as one of them and the ensuing fight during the confirmation process will just bring about the biggest fight you have ever seen. Forget that the republican base will be so mobilized to make sure that will not happen. I am afraid if McCain wins. For now she has my vote but I am likely to change my mind depending on who wins Florida on the republican side. I do not want a Clinton McCain matchup. That is no good for the democrats. I am convinced of this.
http://snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp check it out.
Now, as for Obama vs Hillary.....it is amazing to me that so many of you, who have lived through the past 7 - 8 yrs of hell....why on earth would you NOT vote for a Democrat? Some Obama supporters state emphatically that is he's not the nominee, then they won't vote, or they will vote for a Republican! What does that say about you and your candidate? It sure doesn't reflect unity or change? It's what we've heard, and had for the past 8 yrs. That is a Republican tactic, and you are playing right into their hands. Not voting is no different than throwing a vote away. If Hillary is the nominee, and I hope and pray she is.....why not hold YOUR noses, vote her in, make sure the seat goes to the Dems, and if she proves to be less than stellar, then Obama would be even better seated to run in 4 yrs time. BUT....if she proves to be the work horse change agent that we expect her to be, then we've secured the direction of America and set it up for Democrats rule for decades to come. And it's only through Democratic leadership that anything substantive, forward leading and pro-America can ever be achieved!
Any Democrat is better than anyone the GOP has to offer. If McCain or Romney win, or any other GOP candidate, we will sink deeper into a depression, and it will be global. How can you vote against your own best interests, as well as the best interests of our Country? Why do you hate America so much?
My main objection to Obama is that
he seems a bit too cozy with the nuclear industry, just when that industry is pushing for federal loan guarantees to build new nuclear power plants.
Whether nuclear energy expands or not is a major issue, and like most really important issues, it receives scant coverage in the "liberal media". I will still vote for Obama if he is nominated, but I hope his supporters can influence him to take a more skeptical positon on nuclear energy. (BTW, I will vote for Clinton if she is nominated. We cannot afford another republican in the WH for another term.
