In July, I had the pleasure of attending a panel for the upcoming film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Stardust at the San Diego Comic Con. This was a wonderful fairy tale that I read years ago and I am so excited about the film! We had the opportunity to see clips from it and what we saw looked amazing. They're starring a newcomer in the lead role of Tristan, but there are plenty of big stars rounding out the film, including Claire Danes as the star, Michelle Pfeiffer as the Witch and Robert De Niro in an adapted role of Captain Alberic (Captain Shakespeare in the movie?). What I saw was beautifuly filmed and looked exciting.
During the panel discussion, Neil expressed his pleasure with the film so far and said that while he wasn't involved a great deal with the actual making of the film and was neverous in the begining, he was really pleased with the results. I guess we have to wait until March to see, it but I can't wait!
The other "Big News" for Gaiman fans is the release of the short story collection Fragile Things RELEASED TUESDAY! I guess there is already a line at the Fashion Institute of Design in New York for tonight's Evening with Neil Gaiman, so plenty of folks should already have the book read by the end of this weekend! I'm looking forward to reading it and I'd love to hear from anyone who already has it on hand!
