Imagine if you will Colonial America before the Revolutionary War. Only this has elves, and orcs, and kobolds and even a dragon or two. The workers of an iron mine in the colony of New Orc are missing? Who killed them? Can the cause of their deaths be found and defeated? In a world where wizards walk in secret and laws forbid the priests of the Old Church from acting openly can love really conquer all?
My idea for NaNoWriMo for 2007 came from an idea I had from an old event done by Wizards of the Coast for submissions for a new scenario. The first round consisted of sending a single page summary of your ideas. More or less my idea was the above, a combination of muskets and magic, elves and colonial America.
My novel is a little risque but far from anything directly erotic. In the novel four men, three colonists whose families came from Ent (basically England), and one from Hen (basically France). One was based a little on John Adams (William Adams), the other on William Floyd (John Floyd) and the third a little on Henry Lee (George Lee). George Lee had an orc female slave by the name of Maria.
