| NBJC was one of nineteen African-American organizations from the faith, media, civil rights and political sectors that came together for a national Black AIDS strategic planning summit. Convened by the Black AIDS Institute, the Balm in Gilead, and the National Black Leadership Commissionon AIDS, the goal of the summit was to hammer out the foundation of a national action plan to stop AIDS in Black communities within the next five years. "Our goal is ambitious," said Phill Wilson, executive director of the Black AIDS Institute. "But given the HIV/AIDS rates in Black America, anything less would be immoral." | Female-to-Male, transgender activist, Kylar W. Broadus was recently voted as 2nd Vice Chair of NBJC's Board of Directors. Broadus is currently an attorney with the Transgender Law and Policy Institute and since 1991has been an assistant professor of business law at Lincoln University of Missouri, a historically Black college. Additionally, Broadus has maintained a general practice of law in Columbia, Missouri since 1997. Read more here....... |

McMillian Pummels Plummer for Being Gay
"The Interruption of Everything," the title of Terry McMillan's latest book, happened when this best-selling author of "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," not only filed for divorce, but also sued her Jamaican boyfriend-turned-husband, Jonathan Plummer, who inspired the blockbuster hit of the same title. Plummer, as it turned out, is gay. Refuting allegations that her act is a vengeful homophobic tirade for being duped into marrying a young stud on the down low 23 years her junior, McMillian states she is suing her ex for $40 million citing deceit, extortion and leaving her exposed to HIV/AIDS.
