This session is designed for lawyers and community activists and will provide an overview of the current efforts to achieve legal equality for gay and lesbian people. From the passage of non-discrimination laws and hate-crimes protections to the current court challenges to same-sex couples exclusion from the institution of marriage this panel will look at the legal arguments being made and how they impact African Americans and racial justice issues.
