Adrian, David, et al,
Having spent 7 yrs in SEAsia (Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia), 2 in uniform and 5 in refugee camps among the losers we so shamefully abandoned, and having lost a VT cousin, Dana Stone, at the hands of the Khmer Rouge in Jan. '70 and his kid brother, Tom Stone, on his 3rd voluntary tour in Afghanistan with the Vt ANG in Feb. 2006, at the hands of the Al Qaeda folks, they and the thousands of others with them from several nations, do indeed have our prayers. Wars are at least as stupid as Pres. Reagan inferred some years ago but I suggest that invountary servitude, abject slavery, is far worse. I know no 'real enemy' more terrifying than ignorance... and it is the ignorance of those Islamist radicals that gives them the impetus & foolish courage to be suicidal in order to bring the rest of the globe genuflexing into their rigid tent!!!
I met a young UNH(University of New Hampshire) Jr. majoring in US History just the other day, which happened to be the 19th of April. For the heck of it, I asked him what of significance ever happened on the 19th of April in years past. He couldn't recall anything of importance to the USA... so I told him about our Uncle Danial Townsend., a store keeper turned Minuteman in Lynnfield, MA, who gave his life to us all on that date as the Redcoats retreated back to Cambridge, MA, from the Lexington-Concord battlefield... and how his stricken wife, overcome with grief, gave hers to us also just 6 months later on the 19th of Oct. 1775... leaving several children to be cared for by kin and neighbors. There is a debt or two that some of us feel we still owe... and will owe perpetually to those who gave their all to our free nation's subsequent generations. True, our republic is not "perfection personafied" but it is a worthy task in progress, despite ALL of our human frailties.

God Bless Dad ,too.
In Jesus name,
Emmett
I think we are family. We have bigelows in the family.
Hannah Gould Bigelow is one of them. I'll have to look up my books just not tonight.
Thank you, all of you. I am proud of my Dad and of being a believer in freedom and for those who say Americans are hypocrites becouse of slavery, I will recount my ancestors who were arrested by the "democratically run town government of Dover NH" becouse they were teaching and preaching against slavery...
God Bless,
Remember
fight the good fight
win the race
Endure till the end,
Even so Amen,
Emmett
