I was recently asked to repond to the with draw of American troops in Iraq; this is my reponse.
I have often pondered the question as to why I was born in America. There are many freedoms that I enjoy and the best one is security; I can go to sleep at night and not have be afraid for my life or a loved one's life's, there are no bombs ringing in my ears. I have a place to sleep that is comfortable with a pillow, bed and blankets. My family has the food they need and medical care to name just a few. All too often people abuse many of the freedoms that have been bought with the blood of those willing to fight to keep America free.
America stands for freedom and many are currently dieing for a cause they believe in. I don't totally agree with how Bush got us envolved in Iraq; however I do agree something needed to be done to protect those who cannot protect themselves. This man was a dictator who took the life's of his own people, these people lived in fear because of him. He massacred hundreds with germ war fare tools.
We must stand up not only for those people but also continue to protect American soil from events such as 911.
I am thankful for the security I am blessed with because TRUE American's were willing to give their life's.
Give the GI's the tools to carry out their job and yes there are innocent people getting killed; that is a part of WAR, hopefully our troops with the right tools they need, can cut down on the number of innocent people that are dieing.
If we do not do anything now; we will have to defend our own soil on our soil.
Let's help these people win freedom; let's honor our men and women that have already died, and do the job right. Let's stand along side of our GI's and give them the support they need. Quit the political agenda and do what is right. And as a true American I will never spit on any of our service men or women. Until we walk the road they have had to traveled; we have no right to judge them.
Congress needs to support our men and women in uniform and give them what they need while they are there and when they come home. Help them win; that would be a first in a long time. Let them finish what has been started.
It's easy; war there or war here.

It is refreshing to see the words and know that there feelings are shared by many. You need to know and understand even on Gather there are so many people that have already taken this stand. There are groups that have set out to seek the truth of the things that are really going on in the world without going threw the lies that are presented on the Nightly No's and I call it that because not one news group has sought to do more then present opinion over facts when it comes to the war on Terror. They seek to bend the will of the people with their lies and half truths. There are groups that stand against the lies, one such group is called "Positive War News" check it out and let me know what you think of it. I know that it is truly sad to think that you may be standing alone but I think that you need to reach out and find those that share in these feelings.
Thank you Wiaka I loved the article and I hope to see you in the group soon!
Philip thank you forthe support. I am really tired of people calling fowl when in effect our men and women are dieing in Iraq.
People don't seem to understand that we have service people coming home and getting spit on because they are serving our country.
Our service people deserve better; and we need to support them with whatever they need over there and here at home.
We have not won a war since Korea; our congress has made enough waves to have our people pulled out leaving behind our war equiptment and some technology.
If our government is going to get envolved in another country they also need to stay and finish the job and not let the life's of those that have died or been crippled be for nothing.
So I don't know who is drinking the Cool-Aid.
Maxwell your so right they just don't understand war and what it does to a country, they just point fingers and than sit on their asses.
"Should We Leave Iraq?"
In a word: YES!!!
I have family and relatives in Afgaistan and Iraq and they do believe they are serving their country to keep the bombs off the soil of this country. They are not gullible people; they are very educated and they have children and do not want another 911, they want security for their children a place where they feel safe.
I still hold firm we finish the job that our service people have been sent to do. America has not finish a conflict since Korea and it is about time the life of our young Americans are honored by finishing what our government starts so that they can hold there head's high and not be laughed at or spit on. Our service people need to treated with respect.
I also recieved a comment on one of my images that our service people have been sent over there for the corperations, I also believed this too however it sure isn't being reflected in the prices at the pump.
It all still comes down to what is it going to take to keep war off our soil and what it takes to keep our children safe.
All comments are welcomed as this is one of our freedoms that continues to be fought for; please keep in mind people are still dieing so that, that freedom continues.
My husband is there, and neither of us buy into the fact that he is fighting for freedom. He's fighting because he was ordered. It's simple for him. Less for me, his occupation was his choice and he likes it most of the time, however, should he be wounded or worse, I hold his commander-in-chief thoroughly responsible.
That little curmudgeon has been a terrible drain on the country's resources. He (BUSH) is letting our troops down daily with his insane agenda that we cannot afford. I know we can't afford it because my husband can't get several valuable pieces of equipment.
I agree that "we broke it, we bought it", but let's try not to wave too many flags about wildly. This hasn't been one of America's shining moments.
As stated above the troops need full support and in the statement it includes the equiptment they need to do the job they were sent to do.
In conclusion we need to still finish the job so that the men and women who have already lost their life's; don't die invain. Many may disagree, however we can not protect ourselves against people like Saddam, there is no protection against germ warfare.
Was Bush right; no he was not.
However our love one's are there now and need our support.
If anyone believe's they can protect themselfves and their families from terrorist acts they are fools. Where was the protection for the people on 911? It can happen again if there is no action. This is not something we can be passive about.
Again... war there or war here, what do you want for your children?
