In or around June 2009, Daddy bought some strawberries and cherry tomato trees and created a backyard garden on our deck.
I wasn't really involved because I was busy at work. But Daddy and Kyleigh were watering the plants and watching them grow.
After a long time of wondering whether there would be any result, the tomatoes finally popped up. I took the picture below when they were still green.

One day I noticed the tomatoes had turned red. I didn't pick any, because I wanted to save the moment for my husband. After all, it was his garden. That evening, Daddy took Kyleigh to pick the tomatoes. They had fun, and had fresh tomatoes.
Later, the strawberries popped up too. For a period of several weeks, we would wake up to see a bowl of red fresh strawberries that Daddy had picked earlier that morning before he went to work, so Kyleigh could have them for breakfast.
We definitely got our money's worth for those plants. The tomato plants ended up producing way too many, and even the wild birds didn't finish them before they were rotten.
I had pictures of the ripe fruits, but they were lost along with some of Kyleigh's photos.
