I've been looking forward to today all weekend. A freecycler listed some cuttings as one of about 10 things she was trying to give away. She didn't list what kinds, but since I like plants so much and wanted to go to her town to visit my mother, it seemed like it was worth a chance.
I'm navigationally challenged and her street turn off didn't have a street sign, so of course, I got lost. I even had a law enforcement officer follow me, including turning around when I did. I think it was because I was going too slow. I'd slow down to look at street signs, which I can't do driving 60 mph. On the way back to the area to try again, I drove the speed limit, so he left me alone.
I was in my kind of happy place at this lady's yard. All sorts of plants I recognized were growing big and healthy. I got cuttings of several kinds of pothos, wandering jew, airplane plants, 4 o'clock bush and a kalanchoe about 12" long plus enough aloe vera for me to have and trade both. She had so much that she needed to thin that we could have gone crazy. I got just enough that I could pot it or leave it in water for tomorrow.
Then I got to visit my mother. Since she's been having difficulties talking, she hasn't wanted visitors. We visited for about an hour, long enough to touch base and yet not make her mouth or tongue sore. We discussed a couple of Gather posts, a good conversation I hope to post later.
As soon as I finished planting my new treasures, my son and I did his regular day off routine, so we had a good lunch at our weekly place. We were seated and the server brought our drinks, since our favorite server told him what we always ordered.
Then it was off to the mall for my son and off to see if my scar was eligible for a new study. It was, whoo-hoo! I get a lotion to put on my surgery scar twice a day for 2 months and get paid $110 for doing it.
I was finished in time to join my son at the movies. We saw a cute one, full of characters we recognized. Afterwards we had dinner at my second favorite restaurant. They were having a Monday special that we couldn't resist. Great food and lower than fast food prices!
It's been a lovely day. Except for only getting 30 minutes of computer time, it's been the day I'd love to repeat. If I can't have every day be like this, couldn't I just have Marvelous Mondays?

Sounds like you got some great plants for nothing. Happy for you.
What movie did you see with your son? I watched Epic Movie with my son on DVR today. We also watched License to Wed with Robin Williams. Both were very good. Epic Movie was hysterical - it was a spoof of Narnia, Harry Potter, Nacho Libre, and a few other movies. Very funny stuff.
Tomorrow we're watching Are We Done Yet? which I recorded for him while he was at karate school. We're trying to watch one movie a day during the summer. Almost did it. I also watched 2 movies a day while he was at camp. Finally saw Dark Knight!
What is a kalanchoe?
