Did you ever date someone because of their car?

When I was growing up, girls were supposed to be attracted to guys with hot cars. That never appealed to me, but I did date one guy all summer so he would take me sailing.

Did you ever date someone because of a car?  Or because of some other material possession or job?

No...but I did date someone who had a car with an off-the-charts wow factor. Let's just say it was a car known to the town of Maranello.
When I later invited this person to my wedding to someone else, he came in this car.
Suffice it to say that hubby's pals from Detroit were SHOCKED that I chose hubby over this guy.

Heck no. When I was in high school and college, guys didn't have their own cars. They borrowed their parents' cars when they went out at night or on weekends...if they had their homework and chores done.

Back then, kids weren't allowed to drive to high school and many colleges wouldn't let freshmen (and sometimes anyone) have cars on campus.

No but when my husband and I got together he had a '69 Mach I Mustang, candy apple red. It didn't hurt. lol But at the same time (see my icon) I had a '72 Javelin. Maybe he dated me for MY car. ;) Those cars are long gone and he's still here.

No but I do remember when I was a teen a guy ranked high on the dating list if he owned any car at all.

Absolutely not. It was completely meaningless. I mean, I'm happy when they're successful, but a lot of guys who had "things" really young were very snobby and refused to have anything to do with me anyway.

I did date a guy once because of his car...then found out the sex was awesome too LOL That was MANY years ago!!

No, a gus dated me because of MY car. I figured it out finally because he was always begging to borrow it but he had his own car. He thought he would win more money using my car. Nobody street drags my wagon except me, so I told him to get bent.
