I placed the title in quotes because this is something my father said constantly before he became ill. Now, I find in dealing with his illness that I repeat this often in my head as a mantra when I can feel myself getting worked up.
Parents often know that they are instilling in you words of wisdom and I think my father knew the day would come that I would need this advice. That day is not more than ever before....
What words of wisdom did your parents give you that you still hold with you today?

Life is interesting, it is full of intrigue...
That is a little bit of all right....
You won't know for sure until you try...
Education and learning never end....
Fight your own battles.
Something is better than nothing.
My great great aunt taught me "You can't judge a book by it's cover"
She really lived by that one. She once had a couple come into Bergdorf Goodmans right before closing. No one at any other store wanted to help them...they wanted to look at mink coats. The lady was wearning a cloth coat and the man looked like he could have worked anywhere. Their appearance probably made the other sales people think they were window shopping. My Aunt showed them the coats and the new spring line. This was probably 40 or 50 years ago...they spent $20,000 (my Aunt worked on commission) They were the owners of the big A racetrack. The others judged the book by the cover, my Aunt didn't and treated everyone nicely.
My parents hit the nail on the head here.
Something my father and mother told us all while we were growing up.
she would always say
" I love you more."
It's true, a parent will always love their child more than the child loves the parent. You will truly understand this the day you become a parent.
"Quod licet Iovi, non licet bovi." (That's my mom.)
