Men's Brains vs. Women's Brains

I love this video about the differences between men's brains and women's brains.  :-)

The Difference Between Men's and Women's Brains.

 

It says that men's brains are made up of boxes or compartments.  There's one for the car, one for work, one for the wife, one for the kids...and none of them touch.  When discussing something, a man takes out one box and discusses only what is in that box, then replaces it carefully so as to not touch the other boxes.

 

Women, on the other hand have brains made up of wires that connect everything to everything else.  Not only that, but they are driven by emotion, charged emotions, like electricity.  That's why they remember EVERYTHING, because an event that has emotions participating in the mix gets etched in the brain.

 

Makes sense, right?

I agree....with a note of caution....The president of Harvard was driven out of office for daring to suggest a difference between the genders in terma of brain function.

Sorry. It doesn't make sense to me. I find little difference between the brains. Yes there are differences and they are significant but the differences are far less important than the cultural differences we teach our children without meaning to.

Men are just as charged with emotions as women.

Well, Larry, I think you're right that men are charged with emotions...sometimes. But that emotion seems to be about "guy" things - football and such. They can remember eveything that happened in games and in the room of guys with which they were watching the game.

But if watching their daughter's recitals is endlessly boring and not an emotional event - like it is with mom - they forget everything.

I think men have emotions, they just work very hard to keep them in their proper boxes. With women, if it affects one thing, it tends to affect it all. It does make sense. We each need to learn from the other. Women need to be able to compartmentalize some things, while men need to learn to connect with all of their compartments.

There are in fact physiological differences in the male and female brain. The male brain has 2 billion more neurons, the female has more neuropil (dendrites, axons and synapses). This may indicate why females have a higher rate of Alzheimer's Disease, and why men do better at spatial reasoning. (You know ladies, they can park the car in the garage without the tennis ball hanging?)It doesn't make either sex smarter, so don't get too puffed up guys, it just means we think differently. Now that's a shock!
