Jan 23 Question of the Day

The first pet I remember we had was a grey, furry cat named Smokey. He got out one day and we never saw him again. (I think it was a him, I really don't remember lol). My family have had many pets while I was growing up. My favourite pet was a dog we had named Brute. He was a collie and my uncle named him after a wrestler named Brutus (no, not Brutus the Barber Beefcake... wayyy before then lol). We had the one cat (I'm not really a cat person), many dogs, birds, rabbits, hampsters, little chicks that used to get dyed at Easter, turtles, fish. I used to want a ferret when I was older but boy am I glad I never got one!

I never knew you used to want a ferret! (See, seven years after meeting and I'm still finding stuff out about you, lol).

Well you know now. And I know you had a pet but you didn't share so nyah

King and he was a total mutt beautiful dog with a lot of Golden retriever in him. He was also a "horny little devil" as I think to this day there are still many descendants of King running around my old neighborhood in South Philadelphia. it was that though that also lead to his demise as he was chasing a girl dog across the street when he got hit by a car! If she only hadn't played hard to get, King may have been around for another eight years or so and fathered many more puppies! My mom and dad never belived in leashs, dog house or keeping a dog in a house when he wanted to be out. King was well taken care of but he also had a lot of freedom to roam and that lead him to many "adventures"

Twinkle, my beautiful bluepoint Siamese cat! It was about 43 years ago and I still remember the first day we got her.

(Actually her real name was Me Ling, but no one called her that!)

Our first pets were two pekingnese dogs named Suzy and Nicky and they had puppies

My first pet was a black cocker spaniel, her name was Penny...
her puppies we kept were Smokey and Nitro,,,that be numbers 2 & 3, too.

It was a long-haired orange tabby kitten named Puff... I barely remember but maybe that's why I have a special place in my heart for orange tabbies, to this day. I don't even know whether Puff was male or female, only that I didn't have him/her for very long.

When I was born, my mom had a mean, miserable and nasty miniature schnauzer named Shadow that would bite me when no one was looking -- I am *not* kidding. After he bit me, he'd run off yelping and whining like *I* had done something to *him.* Thus, I'd get in trouble. He liked/tolerated ANYONE but me! However, my father raised dobermans until about a year after I was born, but kept his favorite sire, and"his" dog (who wasn't really supposed to be in the house proper) was named Garcia Vega. Garcia was the one who finally "caught" Shadow nipping at me and saved my reputation.
Of course, my mother's dog (proving my suspicion that he had some sort of connection to Satan,) lived to be 18 (died when I was twelve.) Garcia developed kidney problems and had to be put down when I was 8. That schnauzer never messed with me personally after he got busted, but he spent the rest of his life peeing in my room, chewing my Barbie dolls' head off -- all manner of "cuddly" things. I understand now that he was just jealous and thought my mother was "replacing" him, but I still do not trust schnauzers to this day.

I had a german shepard and his name was Joe. He was named after my sisters boyfriend, lol

I had a mutt named Ginger.

A couple of Siamese kittens named Bathsheba and Princess Snowflower. They helped me with our first baby, Anne - woke me up for her 2 a.m. feeding before she started to cry, alerted Grandma when she got too close to the stairs, things like that. We eventually had to find a new home for them because Anne was allergic and nothing else helped. I still miss them.

That's got to be my dog, Pal. He used to love to chase after our car when we were about to go out someplace. I remember our family having to sneak out of the house so he wouldn't find out we were leaving. To this day, I still miss my Pal!!!

A baby black Cocker Spaniel, came as a Xmas present, I called him Christmas Package, but in those days, pet shops in the 1950s, didn't vaccinate, and I have a memory from when I was about 2, of my mum running after this poor little pup with the runny nose. He died of Distemper.

Dalmation named Katey sold one of her pups to hop-along Cassidy and another to Gabby Hayes and if you know who they were you either like old westerns or your older than you look.

The first pet I ever had was a little cream colored poodle named Reggie - he was a little "tiger"... :) When we moved from KC to Stamford, CT... he got out one day and we couldn't find him and the neighbor lady called to say that Reggie was picked on by a group of other dogs and they had mauled him to death or near death. He died shortly later at the vet. I balled my eyes out for days and days. I was 11. Then we got Pepper until we moved a year later... then Pepper was gone. My parents got rid of Pepper. Meanies!

A COW.....LOL.....named Bossy becuase she was....I refused to let my father sell her and she became my pet and I would ride her bareback just like a horse....we literally looked like a scene out of Huck Fin.....it was so cool......LOL.

With that mentioned I just came across either a mailing from you yourself, or someone else brought this piece to my attention. You or they felt that your creation should be shared with the gather community, which I am very glad that it was passed on to me to view.
