Please help this animal shelter get free food

(This literally costs zero money and takes less than 10 seconds. They don't even ask for an email address or anything, just a click.)

When you have a few seconds, here's a way to help.
 
Hi, all you animal lovers. This is pretty simple... Please tell ten  friends to tell ten today! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute (How about 10 seconds) to go to their site and click on the purple box 'fund food for animals' for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.

 I rescued my dog from the shelter when she was a tiny puppy.  I no longer have my dog, so I want to do this in her memory.  Please take a moment to do this so others may eat.

You seem to be an animal person - could you advise me on how to find groups, etc. in my area where my parents could adopt an orphan dog? They are very healthy, in their late 70's and lost a dog about 3 years ago - she was like their 4th child (and certainly their favorite) and they took her passing extremely hard. They are just coming around to getting another dog, but do not want to go through the puppy stage and training involved, and would feel good about saving an older dog. I know they can look through shelters in the area, but it is hard to find a smaller dog there (they live in an over-55 community where they can have 1 dog, under 25 lbs. Their former dog was a Sheltie - extremely smart and kind.

Another way possibly, is to sign up at zootoo.com You can pick your shelter, and things you do add up for points for the shelter. You can also send for free pet stuff that they have available.

sheryl - how totally cool that you bookmarked that. as far as the search, you can do a google search for small dog rescue/adoption and it should bring up a list of them. i know there is one for dachshounds, not sure what other ones. but they should be able to tell you someone in your parents area. my little sister was a foster mom for huskey's for a while until she got pregnant. (my sister, not the dog)

: - ) Thanks - I'll do a search as you suggest. Many dogs that they highlight in the paper and on the local news as needing to be adopted are large dogs, many of them bulldogs. Those breeds would just not be good for them. I get the feeling that smaller dogs just don't get advertised that much - maybe you just need to be in the right place at the right time to get one. Anyway, thanks for your help.

The Monkey's mind powers are not to be believed! I came, I clicked, I conquered!! I also rescued a Black & Tan Cocker from the pound and I no longer allow my wife anywhere NEAR that place.

My wife has had a pair of shoes on a chair by the bed for two consecutive nights. They have a calming influence on her. Open toed with a low platform heel and decorative buckles.

Hmm...an interesting idea. 3 1/3 is good by my standards. I'm having a hard time operating myself these days.

CC - Sorry so late in getting to this article, but will click everyday. I own four feral cats that we have rescued from the neighborhood so haven't had to go to a shelter to adopt but will definately help in this cause as not all of these little creatures have a chance in this life otherwise.

esther, thanks. i had a cat named squeaky that waltzed in the back door one day and made herself at home. needless to say she wasn't thrilled when we brought Tahini home, but i caught them snuggling a few times on the couch togther when they thought i wasn't looking.

This is a great site. And, if you'll allow me to get on my soap box for a moment, I would like to encourage everyone to look for ways to help their own local shelter. Lately, there's been a few coupons available for free pet food, or almost free when combined with coupons. I don't have a dog but I always buy the stuff to pass on to a friend who is part of a non-profit board.
