This week were some of the Country Music Awards and I sat down to watch them with my mother-in-law whom has always been an avid country fan. She mentioned the next day that she was quite disappointed and the only one who sounded like country was George Strait, the others sounded too rock and roll like.
In honor of my mother-in-law, let's list some country singers.....one per post, but post as many as you want. She will enjoy me sharing this list with her...

I wanted to share a personal story with you. I hope it ok.
About a year ago, our local country station had a commercial for a strip club running on the station. I was very offended. It was not just a commercial, it was done in such a way that in my mind, it could have been rated X.
We were driving to clean the church which took an hour. While in the van that hour, we had the radio on. Every time that commercial came on, I turned the radio off. At the end of the hour drive, that commercial had been on a total of five times. It was in the middle of the day.
I emailed the radio station and gave them my opinions. I ws polite but direct. I also told them that as long as that commercial was running on the station, I would not be listening to it. I also told them that I had just been turning it off but now would not even be turning it on. I also told them that I disapproved of the fact that kids could hear this commercial. I was concerned about the ideas that would forever be in the minds of those kids who listened to it.
I did receive an email from the station. It was written by a lady. She said that she did agree with me but that they made more money off that one commercial than all the other commercials together. She also said that they did not fun the commercial on Sundays.
Now, my integrety was intact and I did as I said I would do. I did not turn the radio on for about five months. One day, my husband said that he had the radio on in his truck at work and the commercial was not on the entire time.
The next time we went out in the van, I turned on the radio. I was surprised at the impact that the music had on me. It said things that I totally did not think was appropiate and alot of going out on ones spouse and drinking and so forth.
Like your mother, I thought it was more like rock than country. It is amazing how we dont realize what we listen too because we are conditioned to it. After not listening for so long. I had no desire to listen to it any more.
