My Meyer Lemon Tree

Beautiful photos! Are the lemons good?

I would expect so, Sandra, but as this is the first crop, I haven't tried any of these, but Meyer Lemons are the best, far as I know.

Wonderful, Gerald. We have an orange tree that I grew from a seed behind our house. It will be a good year for oranges this year. Ours don't become ripe until after Christmas. Do you know when other citrus in your area ripens? We have eaten some very underripe oranges because we were in a hurry. Don't rush them, and the lemons will be sweet and very lemony.

I once had an orange tree that bloomed every spring with a heavenly scent. I never did get any fruit.

Well, living in california has that! Even in a little pot at a little balcony a little lemon tree grows so big fruit!!!!!!!!!!!
I would like to know what about the new flowering? Do you mean it happens in the middle of October???????????

Actualy, this is a lime and not a lemon tree! Am I right? Although they are both citrus plants ...

Very cool Gerald.... we've got little green tangerines and oranges growing, you want to trade some Tangerines or oranges for some lemons in a few months?! :-)

It is not a lime, Alkistis, but a Meyer Lemon. Most lemons are still dark green when they are harvested, then stored, at which time the peel turns yellow, grows thinner and smoother. Some varieties turn yellow on the tree, but not many. Meyer lemons are a hybrid lemon created from grafting a variety of lemon to a variety of orange tree. I have forgotten which varieties were used, but the result is one of the most favored of all lemon varieties. The lemon, it is believed was originally bred in India a long time ago, as oranges originated in China.

I'd love to, Trudy, but as you can see, quantity is very short. I amgoing to get some other citrus varieties soon, Ruby red grapefruit, limes, and blood oranges, hopefully.

I don't think we could do a lemon tree in KY. Our relatives in TX have one. You said you went to Transylvania. We're 1 1/2 hours from Lexington. And you mentioned WV. My husband works in Huntington.
