I had planned on going shopping today for a few things for my trip. It was pouring down rain when I got up. 8 hours later it was still pouring. I really couldn't get motivated to go out into the rain.
This is one of the reasons I go to Mexico every Fall. I love to escape the rain and cold of the Pacific Northwest. It makes the warm, sunny Mexican beaches that much better.
My friend in the village of Barra de Potosí e-mailed me last night and told about a couple of her neighbor boys stopping by last night on their way home. These two 8-year-olds stopped in and started telling her things about the planets that she didn't know. She asked if they had learned these things at school. "No!" they said. "We read it in a book at the library!"
That was really neat because the Children's Library Project is something that I've been involved with for several years. And even better, the book about planets is one I took down last year! That is so cool!
That got me motivated. I decided to go online and order some more books. That's what I use my Bordrrs gift cards for!
Tomorrow I'll go to Goodwill and buy a $3 suitcase then stop by the Dollar Store, Target, and Walmart to pick up some school supplies to take down.
I'm gettin' "exciteder" by the minute!

I'm wondering where Barra de Potosi is though.
It's quite a village. Three dirt streets and no phone lines. But, the kids are starving to learn!
And, yes, this IS a total vacation! : ^)
Last year the library had a giveaway of donated books for the kids in the village. Most of the books are displayed in a place of honor in the homes because it was the first book the family had ever owned. That really put things into perspective for me!
I was going to give you a bad time about leaving us all in the damp and miserable Northwest, but guess I shouldn't!
Great article, it really made my day.
Blessings
