The war-mongering continues.
Bush has given his backing for an Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. The likelihood is that the condition for his approval is that it does not affect the Republicans chances of retaining power.
This means that there are 2 possibilities for the Israelis to consider:
1) That any strike risks a response from the Iranians which might result in either an attack on the Israelis, United States interests overseas or a combination of both. Depending on that response the American public will again see the need for a "strong defender" (ie war hawk), or someone who will remove American troops and American interests from danger zones. Again, the likelihood is that Bush and co. will be PRAYING for a retaliatory action from the Iranians to demonstrate that America and the World needs war mongers like Bush and McCain.
2) If the Israelis delay a strike until after the election it has no other benefit for them other than more time to plan their strategies and responses. For the Republicans it serves no benefit other than not risking a backlash from the American public if the Iranians inflict a large number of American casualties, following any action they might take.
On the balance of probability it would seem that an attack on the Iranians before the November election seems very likely.
And who will YOU be blaming for the consequences of such an action WHEN it takes place?
The Iranians because their president talks a good game and promises the annihilation of the Israeli state (if you are prone to interpreting and/or believing this rhetoric)? Or the United States and Israel for their proven, recent, track record of invading sovereign nations, ignoring international law and public opinion coupled with their own statements inciting the Iranians own foolish statements?
If there is a war be assured that the United States and Israel will once again be the instigators. It is they who are the greatest threat to security in the world today NOT the Iranians.

Brian,
Are you sure Bush gave a blank check to Isreal on Iran. Where did you hear this.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article4322508.ece
Obviously the source is going to be unnamed given their position. It is the Times newspaper in London, again, obviously, they have not asked a desk clerk to give his opinion have they?
Bush may give his backing. Bush would give his backing in the blink of an eye if obvious problems can be addressed. It hardly takes rocket science to guess that the Bush administration is frothing at the mouth in anticipation of an attack on Iran.
I fail to see why you seem so perplexed.
Take care.
Nothing has changed. All the evidence suggested and suggests that Israel was and is still prepared to take action with or without Washington's approval.
