This article was inspired by "Letter to Cindy Sheehan," and the disgusting comments that followed.
War is ugly, war is real.
This war is ugly.
This war is real.
This is not a war between the United States and Iraq.
This is a war between radical, megalomaniacal Wahabi-ist Islam, and the rest of the world.
The honest accept it.
Fools try to wish it away.
I've wasted much of my time reading the words of fools.
Your words are useless, for we all bleed the same way.
The test will come when war is at your door
Then, you will act as men, and women, or die.
The woman will act upon her nature, emotion.
The good woman will defend herself when only fools are present.
The good man will understand her nature, and lay down his life to defend her.
I don't care about your words, fools.
I care more of the gnat who, caught in the wind, bothers me not-
The words of the fool betray him
Men, remember those words, and the fools who speak them.
They will become the ones that real men will also defend.
Yes, all true Americans love to fight.
Real men love to defend honour.
Real men even love to defend the honour of fools.
That is what true men do, and they are not swayed by the words of Fools.
Men, remember this when you feel the sting of battle:
Fools are capable, only, of words.
Take pity on them while you defend them.
And defend them we must.
When the defending is over, and victorious,
The cowardice of the fool will sting him.
It will sting, almost as the battle itself, and again, the fool will need comforting.
Cowardice will sting the fool for the rest of his days, and he will find comfort not.
And the man and the woman will comfort him, though he be not deserving.
But comfort him we must, and comfort him we shall.
Now, I ask of the courageous; go to your room and close the door. On your knee's, ask if it is better to feel good, or to do good.
And remember; I care not for a Fool's words.

History will be kind to me for I intend to write it." Sir Winston Churchill.
You strike me with AWE---
An excellent quote, and very definately true. Thanks for taking the time.
He was disgusted by the capitulation and appeasement of Chamberlain, and knew Roosevelt would not tolerate that here. Unfortunately, he waited too long, and Hitler had the momentum for years.
I honestly think Mr. Bush stopped another World War from occuring by doing what he did in Afghanistan and Iraq. Aggressors like Al Qaeda and The Taliban won't stop until forced to stop.
As it would seem that we have an entire party of Chamberlains in the United States. AND entire nations of Chamberlains elsewhere; France, England, Canada, etc. And thankfully Einstein, himself a Jew, recognized his surroundings and took action. Another interesting note, that you brought up Roosevelt: He can be listed as impirical proof, for those who NEED it [Dems, usually] that a non-military man can, indeed, make for an excellent War-time President. Somewhat steals the thunder from them where that argument and President Bush are concerned!!!
And yes, I agree; our action in Afghanistan and Iraq were compulsory, despite what pacifists say.
When a lifelong pacifist like Einstein says something like that, you have to stop and take notice.
When a President like Mr. Bush is driven by his own people to make war halfway around the world, it makes you stop and take notice too.
OK - I must put my 2 cents in here because THIS has been driving me up a wall! Here's the point the pacifist pinheads fail to grasp;
Does anyone (aside from present company) realize how LOW the death toll in Iraq actually is?! At current I believe the official count is 2830... Compare that to any of the other wars we have fought. Compare that to just Pearl Harbor which cost us 2400 men in one day alone. 2800 is but a drop in the bucket as far as wars go... and we are very, very lucky.
And yet they call Iraq a 'quagmire.' A 'failure.' I too often wonder what would be the case were any of the wars of old raging now. The amount of casualties. The reality of what REAL torture is (not waterboarding for pity's sake).... The millions of POW's our previous wars produced that could fill a thousand G'itmos and beyond.... How 'bout the loss of 2.5 percent of the world population in the aftermath of WW2? Indeed the true face of war would send these sensitive pacifist into full-on nervous breakdowns.
I have often championed for the US to issue mandatory military service for all its citizens, but to be honest, I am reconsidering this position. If I were a soldier, or general, or commander in chief, I wouldn't want these spineless drips responsible for watching my back or leading our Nation to victory. Indeed, what happened to bravery? Fighting for the good to snuff out evil? I am so glad that Bush has had the forethought to take the fight to them, and the will to do what is right.
You both are right on target!
Although it is regrettable to lose anyone in our Armed Services at any time, the dead and injured count is small compared to most full-blown Wars. Many of our top Generals have already said this on the record.
I can only attribute the whining and complaining to a few factors :
1) Embedded journalists, and more extensive 24 hour coverage
2) Screaming Left Wingers
3) An increased sensitivity in America to any deaths in War (the Vietnam syndrome)
4) Pressure from outside the country - France, Russia, etc.
5) Criticism from the U.N.
6) Shameless persecution from the same people who voted for the War, in Congress
7) Slimy queasiness whenever America is called on to do some heavy lifting in the world
It all adds up to an environment of disingenuousness and saboutage from the Left. Roosevelt, a Democrat, used to call this Treason.
Case in point: Iraq is a mess and we are bogged down in a losing position. The deaths of 100 Iraqi's a day, (done by Muslims to Muslims) becomes the TRUTH of a losing proposition. 2,700 + US casualties shows the lack of planning? Does anyone print the comparision to our other conflicts?
US Deaths:
(Civil War 618,222 (360,222 Union/258,000 Confederate)
WWII = 405,399: WWI 116,516: Vietnam = 58,209 Korean = 54,246
Does this seem a little less bleak of a war we are destined to lose?
Sam Adams wrote:
If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
I thand God Everyday we have those brave, rightous souls that will take the fight to those that threaten our very existance wherever they stand!
George Patton on War: (Oh we need a Patton Today - We have our Churchill to couter the Chamberlins (Murtha, Kerry, Pelosi, Reid, and all).
Maybe We Need A Patton For Our Generation
Thank you so much! :) Would you endeavour to finish my prose for me?
The good woman will defend herself when only fools are present.
The good man will understand her nature, and lay down his life to defend her.
I think that's my favorite part.
Max, if possible, my respect for you has just grown.
Your position is understandable, and Maxwell has done a convincing job of explaining the sad and unfortunate necessity for war. It truly is a distasteful venture, at best. But pacifistic behaviour can and will be an encouragement to an aggressor. Do you feel that we were wrong in joining WW11? We were not, after all, attacked by Germany, or Italy. Do you believe that they should have been left to run roughshod over all of Europe? How did you feel about the annexation of the Sudetenland? The horrifying slaughter of the Polish Jews in the Warsaw ghetto? The German Wermacht marching under the Arche de Triomphe and into the heart of Paris? Did you know that pacifism was rampant in the United States in the late 1930's and very early 1940's, as Hitler was run amok? And did you notice that, when, attempted by the British, the cowardice of appeasement merely resulted in, for them, "The Blitz?" It was then, and the subsequent and treacherous Pearl Harbour attack, that America finally awakened. And onece awakened, the military leadership of Japan, astonished, uttered perhaps one of the most significant quotes of the age: "I fear that our only accomplishment, has been to awaken a Sleeping Giant..." It was only when these crucial and horrifying events unfolded, that the pacifism of the American ended, and the ENTIRE COUNTRY went to work to defend this country, and all of Europe, from the desired global domination of the Gerry...and, YES, this does apply today.
If you understood me, you would know that my idealistic views for mankind are every bit as desirous for peace and co-cooperation as yours. But those views of idealism are not real. They are fantasy. There will always be, in the fallen state of man, a faction of evil that will refuse to fall in line with civilised behaviour; and defeated they must be. No one likes war, Candace. My prose was merely designed to call and encourage those who will defend our way of life, in order to protect those who live in a fantasyworld.
No one on this forum, no one in this country, or outside this country, aside from men and women who have served this country, OR those in political (and not always then) and military roles; is in a position to make an assessment on this war...
What does Candace know about warfare? Is she a professional wartime strategist? Has she ever served in the military? Has she held a high-ranking political office? What makes her or anyone like her an authority on war and how it should be handled?
I am getting burned out on all of this. Everybody thinks they know how this war should be run... And on the greater scale; how this Country should be run... Yes, to them, being the President, or Secretary of Defense, or Secretary of State, must be a walk in the park... So easy, a child like them could do it; I'd like to see a one of them try...
Thank you very much.
