I have been working in a pharmacy for a few years now and it always amazes me that people don't listen to what you are saying. Our normal procedure, to make sure the right medication is going to the right person, is to ask for the person's last name & date of birth. Here is what typically happens after I get the person's last name:
The next question I ask is, "What is your date of birth?"
The customer replies, "Don."
So, I repeat my question, a little slower this time. "What..is..your..date..of..birth?"
Now the customer is a little upset because I've repeated the question. He places his hands on his hips, starts tapping his foot on the floor and with a lot of attitude replies, "DON."
Here we go again. I ask my question a LOT slower this time (and a little louder). "What.....is....your....DATE....OF....BIRTH?"
This time the customer finally hears what I was asking. With his face now beet red, Don says, "Oh, I though you were asking for my first name."
This is the lesson I hope some people will learn after reading this story: If you actually take the time to listen to what people are saying, you might not look like such an idiot, after all :@)!!!

I feel for you. Thank you for sharing.
"Hi I wanna add a car to my insurance."
"Great, sir. Can I have the make, model and year of the car."
"Its a four-door."
"A sedan?"
"No, a truck."
"So its a truck not a car."
"Yeah, I guess."
"And the make?"
"Its a truck."
"Yes. Is is a Ford, a GMC, a Dodge?"
"No, its Chevy."
"Ok. Great. And the model?"
"It's a truck."
"Yes, sir but what model?"
"I don't know."
"Is it new or used?"
"I just got it."
"So, is it new."
"No. I don't think so. "
"Do you know the year?"
"No."
"Sir, do you have your title or registration with you."
"No. Do I need that?" (It would help since you are an idiot.)
"I will be needing the license plate number and VIN from the vehicle. Do have those?"
"No. Should I go get them?"
"Yes, please."
"Ok, but I'll have to call back. My son has the truck right now."
"Your son is driving the truck right now?"
"Yeah."
"I don't show your son as being on your policy."
"No, I don't think he's on it yet."
"I can add him to the policy. I'll need his driver's license number."
"Uh...ok. He's not here right now, though."
"Does he have a driver's license?"
"No. Is that a problem?"
Also, I get a little anxious when I pick up mine or my family's prescriptions. That's sensitive info.
