Ok my last SITUATION has sparked a lot of comments and I so appreciate it. To refresh your memories the following is the situation:
The disappearing toilet paper. You see one of my residents would go into the bathroom and roll toilet paper into small rolls and then stuff them into her dresser. This lady did have alsiemers and sundowners but I wondered if she had at one time had no tp to use.So tell me what would you do? The dresser can only hold so much toilet paper and this is bothering the other residents as there was never toilet paper in the bathroom when they needed it.Now your solutions have all been wonderful and I so appreciate them.
I know you are all wondering how I handled this SITUATION so let’s just get to the point.
First of all I gave each resident their own roll of TP even the lady that would roll up the stuff in the bathroom. I also put up an extra shelf in the bathroom and filled it with TP. And we had a house meeting so I could tell everyone that the Tp was everyone’s to use. And if it ever ran out to please let me know so I could refill the shelf.
This however did not stop the lady from rolling up the TP and filling her dresser. And she even started filling her clothes pockets.
Someone asked if this lady hung her own clothes. No I did that for them all. But anyways I made this tp thing turn into something great for the home.
You see when you have a home you must provide so many activities for your residents. So once a week one of my children would take this lady out side and either sit and visit or go for a short walk with her, while I took a box and emptied out all the tp out of her dresser and clothes.
Then latter in the day we all (by we all I mean me, my children and what ever resident that decided to sit and visit with us and help.) We all sit at the table and roll the tp back onto the tp rolls. This lady would even say I wonder why someone would do this to the TP LOL.
My children were so wonderful and just told her it doesn’t matter it gives us all something to do while we sit here and visit.
So you see there is always a way to turn a SITUATION into something positive.
