Do you genuinely think most people dress there age?
People in there 40's should dress appropriately, but then what is appropriate and who is to say what dressing your age in-tails. Isn't age just an original number and shouldn't you dress how you feel like dressing?
Is dressing your age the same for men that it is for women?
I have seen reactions in restraints where women in there 40’s are dressed like a teenager, in short squirts and skimpy tops while the men gawk at this the women sigh in disgust, But on the other hand when men dress to young for there age you do not see or hear anything.
So what does dressing your age mean and what political mistakes are made when people actually believe they are dressed appropriate for there age.
Out of 5300 people that were surveyed
The following are the groups that completed the survey about dressing your age.
Men Women
| I'm in my 20s | 5.6% | 12.6% |
| I'm in my 30s | 10% | 18.7% |
| I'm in my 40s | 17.3% | 24.8% |
| I'm in my 50s | 30.9% | 26.2% |
| I'm in my 60s | 24.2% | 12.4% |
| I'm in my 70s | 9.4% | 3.6% |
| I'm over 80 | 1.9% | 0.3% |
| Out of these age groups most stated they looked Younger then there age. Most felt that most of the time they dressed appropriate for their age. When asked if they had ever been told that they do not dress appropriate for their age, Only a few agreed that they had been told this a time or two. When asked What's the biggest mistake a woman can make when dressing “too young?" Most men said wearing things that are to tight. And most women agreed that Showing too much skin was the biggest mistake women made when dressing too young for their age. What's the biggest mistake a man can make when dressing “too young?" When asked this question both men and women agreed that the biggest mistake for older men that try to dress too young for their age is that they dress like they are in high school. What's the biggest mistake a woman can make when dressing “too old?" When answering this question most men thought that women wore to baggy of clothes and women thought the biggest mistake is when a woman wears stretchy clothes. Men and women alike agree that the biggest mistake a man can make when dressing “too old?" is wearing out dated styles. So tell me do you agree with the above results? I think that men are more apt to dress their age than women. Men have less hang ups about their looks than women do, in general that is!
Interesting article!
I am 42 and t-shirt and jeans is for me. But when I go out I dress down some. LOL
Thanks again everyone for reading and commenting.
there are some 20 year olds that should never shown their bulging stomachs in in modern clothes when they are 200 hundred pounds.
wear what you look good in forget about age
I am conscious that I have a curvy figure. And, I dress appropriately. I'm nearing 30 and realize I'm not a teen ager and I don't attempt to dress like one. I like the casual/dressy attire anyway.
Men just don't care about fashion like women do. And, normally don't get hung up on the fact that their are aging and their body is too. I think men can dress trendy easier, because there is not such a huge gender gap in their fasion. You have a much wider aray with women's fashion.
PS: As long as you wear jeans over those shorts you are fine. But, plain speedos are disgusting irregardless of your age and body type. Unless, you are looking for a hoochie.
If everyone would please just look in the mirror before they leave the house!
If you look like a can of exploded biscuits, or a Shar-Pei,
If you see anything that remotely looks like cottage cheese,
If my children will lose their innocence when you sit or bend over,
If I will lose my lunch when you sit or bend over,
If your visible cleavage is larger than your head, or
If you have visible cleavage on your back side.
Please go change!!!
I have taken my speedo off and left the house,
you happy now?
Not that I intend on giving away my age mind you .... I am a woman we don't do that. I'm just glad I can still turn a few heads no matter what I am wearing.
i dress however the f
But as I reread this I am wondering if I should have spelled there - their after all it is their age.
And intails is that the word I want to use there?
I think I meant restaurants not restraints.
Wow you can't even read all of this now I know you have all been way to kind. Most of the words on the right are missing at least now that I look at it they did not show up on here. How do I fix this?
Ok so wow there are a lot of errors in this article I know the people here on Gather try not to make others feel bad but there is a way you can kindly tell someone the error of their ways.
As after re-reading this I am embarrassed. Sorry everyone this article was badly written I will work on revising. If any of you see anything else please let me know in a kind way as I think I have put myself down enough on this one.
Thanks and have a great Turkey day...
I don't know about anyone else, but the later it gets the worse my spelling is. Keeps me humble.
Dress in the manner that befits your body type, if you have things hanging where they shouldn't be, for the love of Pete, cover them up.
Of course this is just my opinion.
There is so much judgment in our society about bodies. I recently posted a story about it: http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474976840612
I know there needs to be rules, but I rebel against them mightily. I, for one, would love to see Barney in his Lime green stiletto heels, purple fishnet hose, pink spandex miniskirt, and blue halter.
On a more serious note, I think you should wear exactly what you want to wear, if you are prepared for the wrath of society's judgments.
I was really freaked out. You know why? It was my kid. I picked her up from a friends house and she borrowed it to see what I would say.
Jewell, I saw your comment about your typos, etc. I would recomment you type your article in Word (this is only a suggestion since you said you felt embarrassed). You can then copy/paste it into a "Publish" mode here. I try not to judge your writing style by the typos, but they can be embarrassing...... I know. :0) Interesting topic and pretty mom in photo.
You can also post your article and click the box that says publish to 'just me'
then the article appears but only you can see it. Read thru and edit and then post to the groups.
I have seen several people who were wearing things at my work that they shouldn't have. If you wouldn't want what you are wearing on the front page of the newspaper, then probably you should change. That is my thought on the issue, this is what my grandmother would always tell me. Her good rule of thumb which goes for pretty much anything we say, do, or talk about is that if we wouldn't want it to be on the front page of the newspaper then it probably is a bad idea. Just a thought, please ask a close friend before you go out to do us all a favor. The friend should be fairly versed in fashion otherwise they will give you bad advice. I see so many people that wear things that just make me want to hurl sometimes, I think what were they thinking?
NWJ Keep up the good work and God bless (+=-) back to studying.
