Bill Clinton signed the legislation deregulating the banking industry in 1999. It isn't a liberal or conservative issue, unless you listen to and believe Kieth Olbermann's bullshit. Credit default swaps were created by JPMorgan in the 90's as a means to hedge against loan risks. They were never regulated, traded on any exchange, or subject to SEC laws. They are basically private contracts traded between two parties, over the phone The problems arose when those sub-prime loans (mortgage backed securities) were packaged and speculated on. When these went bad it rippled to the stock and credit markets. The real criminals in all this were the rating companies that gave these a AAA rating. Even Alan Greenspan was astounded at the formula's they used to rate these securities. In a nutshell, Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives all made and lost money. If you really believe the Dem's are looking out for "Main Street" your a fool. Democrats rake in more than the Republicans in donations from Wall Street, just ask Charles Schumer (D-NY). The Dem's just try to make you believe they are looking out for the average person you every 4 years but it's all bullshit. A perfect example is Bernie Madoff. For starters the economy doesn't turn on a dime, and more than likely what your seeing is the return on the first stimulus last year. But many economists and market experts that are way more versed is this than myself and probably you are saying that it has increased to much to fast and can't sustain itself. One well respected analyst ( I will try to find the report from early 2009 and post) claims that we would see gains through the year and then a tsunami is coming, worse than the last drop. Time will tell. The reports are out there, all you need to do is look. One warning sign was reported about a month ago of how an above average number of CEO's and upper management persons are cashing out their options early again. The last time this was seen was in late 2007 in anticipation of the fall that happened in 2008. One rule to trading is, always follow the smart money. Obama had nothing to do with gains the market has made, just as he has no control over the fall if it happens. The economy needs to stabilize itself. The only hypocrisy that you mention that I see is the Democrats taking money from Wall Street and then then telling the public they're looking out for Main Street.

BTW, I have made money in the 50% gains trading futures. I could care less if the market is up or down. When down I just trade shorts. A lot of your Dem hero's do the same thing.
