It's been more expensive to take Maxx to the vet than to take myself to the doctor. It's a bit insane, really. Of course, they know we love our animals, so it becomes a matter or 'supply and demand'.... and they're taking advantage of the demand.

Wow, some of those charges are ridiculous. The only one that seems about right is the $25 to take them to the vet. I have watched dogs and am usually paid $10 a day, but then again all I ever do is go let them out twice a day and feed them.

And they might not even take a pit bull. One of the kennels in our area says it takes "all" breeds but they discriminate against bully breeds.

people that want their animals taken care of will have not choice than to pay the price. could leave them huge bowl of food and water and leave them home alone.

i think 60$ a day, is way to much, all they do is feed the dog, let him out and maybe walk him...

some places charge extra for everything they do. Someplace want you to bring your own dogs food. Surprised they don't want you to bring your own water...

That's crazy to charge THAT much. I'd try to find a friend, relative or a neighbor to watch my pet and pay them...

Pet sitters get good money. My neice was paying a woman to watch her puppy while she was at work.

I usually get $25 to $35 a day for watching dogs. I stay at their house, feed them, walk them, etc. Many times, it's also something of a mini-vacation for me too because many of the houses where I watch dogs have simming pools and/or hot tubs I'm able to use while I'm there. My sister gets more for watching pets (around the rates you've quoted), but she's more serious about turning her pet-sitting into a business than I am.

Too bad you don't live near me,lol...I keep all the neighborhood dogs when folk go away and they pay for feed and gift my house with an average of ten bucks a day. One dog I kept for 8 months because it's owner was in jail...no pay there, but she was a cool dog except for digging up my entire yard and chewing everything in sight,lol...

yeah, she was, ha ha...She even ate my Large turtle shell from the ocean, After it had been shellacked! Then I was camping out and had her tied to my half roll-a-way bed... I woke up to her pulling me, bed and all, outside to go chase a Fox! Half husky, half wolf is a strong dog....:)

I house sit for my SIL on occasion, she has dogs and a cat, it's less upsetting for the critters than to go to a boarding kennel.
It's $25 at a kennel - for a cat around here - don't know about dogs.
