Our Fallen Heroes in Bush's Iraq Debacle
The War in Iraq is not going well, and the signs are everywhere that we need a change. So far, in the 20 days of October we have lost 76 of our fine young fighting men and women, yet Bush has REFUSED to release James Baker report and recommendations until AFTER the election...why?
More importantly, what if after the election is over, after Bush has done everything he can to PROTECT Republican seats in both the House and Senate it turns out that he cannot and will not Stay The Course. Should that report be released now, or should the White House be allowed to KILL OUR SOLDIERS in the name of saving Republican seats in the House and Senate?
People in the know, including George Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Condi Rice know what those findings are, have already read the report, are already discussing with Generals at the Pentagon what changes are to be made in Iraq. If it turns out after the election that MAJOR CHANGES are required in Iraq, whose hands should the blood of our fallen fighting men and women be on? If it turns out that report has been kept under wraps to SAVE Republicans, should members of the Republican White House Administration be impeached?
I would CHALLENGE the Republican Party to do the RIGHT THING, and demand release of the Commission Report on Iraq immediately, for doing anything less makes ALL OF YOU and accomplice to the needless death of more American Troops.

And I can just hear everyone now saying that is what happens when the Republicans send our boys to war Blah blah blah and of course Clark and all his wing-nuts will tell me what a terrible person I am to complain about the picture. But I don't care, If you want to show these pictures why not get some balls and show some other dead bodies like Sec. Foster or John Lennon, Ann Richards, Ronald Regan, Richard Nixon or how about your mother, father sister brother I would like to see them on here so that I can make my point.
How dare you use these brave souls to berate your leaders.
If you want to state an opinion go ahead and state it I will listen, but don't use pictures of the very men and women who have died fighting for your right to do so.
Now that is an argument, you see you can make an argument without the picture. Utterly amazing. Now I can disagree with you, but here is the point and I want you to listen real close, oh Pal of mine,
MY BEST FRIEND CAME HOME JUST LIKE THAT........
he was a good man and did what he was told to do. I don't know what his politics were but he loved his country and for you to cloud his memory by showing that picture is reprehensible.
I understand you hate Bush and all republicans, fine, but don't use our dead soldiers to make your point.
Think about this for a minute.. How would you like me to use a picture of your best friend to tell the world what slimeballs Democrats are.
HAVE I MADE MY POINT YET????
If not maybe read this post real slow to someone and they can tell you what I am getting at.
You see, I FREAKING GET YOUR POINT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I would also like to thank you so very much for taking mine and others feelings into account during you anti-Bush rant.
I look forward with baited breath for you next OPINION, showing, may I suggest, a be-heading. I am sure that that will be your only way to get you asinine comments across. If it wasn't for lowlife, inconsiderate blowhards like you, well never mind.....
Could you do me just one favor before you climb under your rock, E-mail me the next time someone you know dies so that I can come and take pictures.
Failed Policy? There have been less deaths in Iraq than in Los Angeles for the same period. There have been less deaths in Iraq than any other American Conflict for the same amount of time. There are going to be losses in any conflict. That is a fact of life.
Most Americans are against it? You are listening to CNN's slanted polls again, aren't you?
The Democrats rail against Bush, but they have not even attempted to give actual alternative plans, other than cut and run. Which is NOT an option. The cut and run policy would create a vacuum that would cause terrorism to flourish.
Stay the Course is NOT WORKING, and I am calling on the White House to release James Bakers findings and recommendations.....if you are a true American, regardless of party association, you would make that same demand as well.

Does an American veteran need to fight in every war to know the best wars are those avoided?
What happened to learning from our mistakes, or have we as a nation forgotten the lessons learned in the police action that was Vietnam? In November, we will have been in Iraq longer than we were in World War II, and right now we cannot be far from the brink where we as a nation bring back the draft.
It's funny in a sad way, perhaps a sign that I am getting old, but I can remember when being American meant something to the rest of the world.
Great article, I agree with you!
I believe they have 3 standard responses for questions they don't want to answer....one is because either they haven't seen the report yet so they don't want to comment on it or
two: they have decided its classified - so no one can read it, or
three: they won't comment on it because all the facts are not in and they will be setting up a group to investigate its findings......................

The co-chairs have repeatedly stated that their report will not be released until after the election. What specific evidence do you have, Porgie, that the report was released to the administration?
I appreciate that you have made them available.
In my opinion, you could create an article that consists simply of a photo and no accompanying text. I think that would have been more powerful than adorning it with political opinion of whatever stripe. A thought for you, Porgie.
The use of Mosques as weapons storehouses and ambush points. We respect houses of worship, they do not. We now level them if used to attack our troops, they don't respect them, why should we. DO NOT forget over 5,000 terrorists have been sent to their paradise. We helped expidite them there. The clerics (warlords) have appealed to the Arab world for more money, weapons, and cash. When has any news organization reported that? They are on the run. The increase in violence is directly propotional to the upcoming elections. BELIEVE they want this administration to lighten up and they know the Dems will do it. Deep that in mind Republicans! If the management of this war moves to the legislature, we are on the same humilating path of VietNam, shame and disgrace in the eyes of the MUSLIM world.
If you have the balls I would love to see the look on your face if you were to confront any of those responsible for the management of this war (Casey, Abizad, Pace, et al.). You see the eyes of those men and they will NOT accept defeat, that is why Bush, Cheney and Rumsfield put so much stock in what they say, not some former ambasadors and non-combat personel.
Former Generals bitching? Sure, they were forced out of their cushy desk jobs on perpetual pay upgrades by the restructuring of the Pentagon by Rumsfield who wanted a more mobile, flexable military. We did in 30 days in Afg. what the Russians could not do in 7 years. We took Bagdad in about the same time, Suddam was ousted, THAT was MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Now it is more politicla than military mission, we are working to stabilize long enough to provide the trainning of Iraqs own security forces.
NEVER forget the long lines of Iraqis who walked 10 miles and more to VOTE despite threats of being shot down or blown-up. (I bet you bitch if you stand in line for 20 mins IF you vote).
The coffins: why don't you haul your self-rightous ass to a serviceman's funeral and carry a few signs about how little you value their families loss. See what kind of reception you recieve. THEY believe in what they are doing, you matter not.
Is this grandstanding or insulting the memory of those who died? Or is it showing courage in the face of an administration increasingly bull-headed (if that's even possible), confused and in disarray? At this very, very late date even the administration is admitting that changes will need to be made. I think that's no longer in question by anyone.
When we are reminded of those brave souls who gave their lives for our country we are given a stark reminder of our responsibilities as citizens to demand the very best from our leaders. Not political games, finger-pointing or excuses.
What would you bitch about next if the report you insist on seeing says 10,000 or 100,000 more troops NOW. Would you accuse them of colusion with the Administration? Just what if? Also, it is known there are stockpiles in Iraq that must be secured. Even your Godess Hillery stated so, Senator Clinton last week acknowledged that the possibility is still a live one, saying, "there were no weapons, or if there were, they certainly weren't used or they were in some way disposed of or taken out of the country." (2-3-06). The last UN report cited tons of antrax and other chems manufactured AFTER 2001 were unaccounted for and have an extended 'shelf-life' because of advanced dryers that were purchased from France with the Oil-For-Food funds _ FACT, read it yourself - but, long forgotten by the Dems.
Your simplistic demand for a report that may or may not affect any change is only self-aggrandizing and self -rightousness you throughly lack. You obvously are more comfortable guzzling the Liberal, Soros Industrial-Strength Kool-Aid and regurgitating the same and avoid any fact that you may stumble on that would dampen your cries of concern for the honor of the vets.
Maybe put down the Chomsky crap and read something with value, or take a trip to Venezula with Cindy, Bellafonte et al. and tell him what he needs to do to satisfy your demands. HA!

Porgie for supreme leader of the universe NOW ! ! ! ! !
It's not to late to let mister way below average give it a shot, vote PORGIE ! ! ! ! !
The Cut and Run BS is nothing more than a creation of the Republican Party to try to win the election. What the Democrats have been saying is that there needs to be a realistic assessment of where we are and how best to deal with the situation that Bush got us into. There is a legitimate question as to what percentage of the deaths to Americans is being caused by "terrorists" and what percentage by loyal Iraqis who do not want to have an occupying force in their country.
I have yet to hear any solid course from the Republicans other than the slogan "stay the course." Exactly what course is that? How will know when we won? Because of the incompetence of this administration in the early days, we lost whatever chance we had to create the desired end. Who's side do we take in the Civil War? Why should we be taking sides?
If we are not taking sides, then why not pull back out of the fray into the countryside, where we are attacked only by terrorists and not Iraqi nationalists. Let's at least fight the right enemy. While we are being distracted in Iraq, Afghanistan is going to hell in a hand basket.
The display of flag draped coffins is distasteful and powerful, exactly why the administration has forbidden access. They saw what it did during the Viet Nam war. But as you say Vicki, you "have to accept the reality of it." Until the administration is forced to accept the reality of it they will simply continue the mantra of "stay the course" don't "cut and run." The obvious answer is that these are not the only two choices but until the administration is willing to accept the reality of the situation, brave soldiers will be continually asked to fight and die for the administrations bankrupt policy and morality. Until they accept the reality they do not have to face the hard choices of how to fix their monumental screw-up.
If it causes more to die, should it still be released?
Am I to assume by your response that you would be against releasing the report if that would put lives at risk?
BTW, that didn't stop leaks with the eavesdropping program.
"I don't believe that a shift in tactics ought to wait until after the election. There are too many casualties there. If we have a better course, we ought to adopt it sooner rather than later."
The admini-bots who have been ripping you here had better go back to their right-wing handlers to get back "on message."
Now, Porgie, one more thing--I assume that since you ignored my question, you have NO evidence that the administration actually has the Iraq Study Group report (if indeed there even IS one yet, which I doubt). I believe James Baker when he states, on national TV, that it's not going to be voted and released before the election.
That does not, in my opinion, diminish your main point, which is that pussy-footing around with a failed approach until some future arbitrary date, while people are dying, is just wrong. Those that disagree and are treating Porgie (or me) rudely can shove your comments into an email to Sen. Spector, ok?
That LOSER is no "conservative" my friend *ROFL*
What a joke.
Our troops volunteered to lead the life they live, at the very least you should honor their decision, more than your own ill informed opinion.
From his Wikipedia entry: "John H. Hinderaker... is a conservative... lawyer and a blogger... as well as a fellow at the Claremont Institute. Hinderaker is best known for promoting a neoconservative ideology regarding foreign policy, and for copious praise for George W. Bush and the policies of the Bush White House.... Hinderaker uses the handle 'Hindrocket" on his political blog, which has led some opposing bloggers to call him 'Assrocket.'"
