Breaking news: NYS Gov. Eliot Spitzer is scheduled to have a press conference regarding his involvement in a prostitution ring. I have to leave for work right now, but I had to leave a post up about this. I'll update it tonight, after I get home. I think he's going to resign, but we'll see.

I know it may sound redundant by now, but apparently some people still need to hear, yet again, why Gov. Spitzer must resign. On Monday, he was identified as "client #9" in a federal criminal prosecution of an international prostitution ring. The news has rocked NY State, and shocked the national "body politic." This is still a "breaking" story on Wednesday, because Spitzer still hasn't resigned, after giving a half-minute statement on Monday afternoon. While apologizing to his family, and the public, he also called it "a private matter," and promised to "report back" soon.
Since then, he has retained high-profile legal counsel, and been "incommunicado." The classic "circle the wagons" move, with "sources" leaking both that he will resign, or may try to stay. This blog has commented repeatedly on Spitzer, and his many previous scandals. The current delay is caused by his lawyers' negotiating an "exit strategy" with federal prosecutors, I suspect.
In an ironic twist, Spitzer may have brought the "heat" down onto the prostitution ring, and not vice-versa, as some suggest. Gov. Spitzer was no mere "client" caught in a prostitution bust (something that too many people sympathize with).

The man is a moron ,at least it wasn't about male pages in congress or crazy toilet sex in airports , hypocrites.
I'd rather politicians were having sex for their fun instead of making war on innocent countries.

Katie: Where have you been all day? The hue and cry about this have been in the news endlessly since late this morning. If there were any more of a fuss about it there would be people rioting in the streets. It's about the same level of din for Larry Craig.
By the way did any of you catch how much he was paying for an hour of that woman's time? Somewhere in the area of $5000. And he owed for times before apparently according to some of the leaked transcript on the wire tap.
The End of the story. NO! There will be ramifications. Look for the GOP to tie this to Clintons. Hillary Clinton is sponging his name off her website as fast as the webmaster can upload.
Whenever we get blessed with such scandal I think of the wisdom of the Prime Minister of Thailand commenting on Monica displaying her thong; "If a young lady showed a leader her thong and we DIDN'T take advantage, that's when we'd be impeached!"
