I've noticed some changes here lately concerning my earnings, and I just thought I'd ask you all if you're seeing the same changes.

I've been cashing out on the 1st every month, so that is my tally since February 1st.

This means that I've averaged $3.09 a day here this month so far. Hmm... that's a far cry from the $6-$7 a day I used to earn here!

I know that the cash/points shouldn't matter, but to me they do because I use the money I earn from Gather (and other cash/gift card earning websites) to help out with bills for our family. I am a stay at home mom who has to stay home because I've got a few different medical problems that prevent me from working full time.

Just wondering what's been going on, especially because I've been posting more content than normal. Have you all noticed this same trend on Gather? Have your earnings been dropping like mine?

I feel your frustration. I also write for other sites and they seem "stuck" as well. I feel if you refer people here (as I have been doing) you should get at least 100 points for that, but it seems to be much less.

I hope that you continue to post here, as I do like your articles, though I don't always make it around to comment.

I have never been able to make the cash value, but I have made 75 over he three months in gift cards. It's not much but it help me A LOT. painted my kitchen, got solar lights and a few other things I would not have been able to get because of bidget constrictions.
I am not sure what is happening but I was on track to making the 3,000 this month and then it locked me out for a week and haven't been earning many points since i have been able to get back on. I know the whole system is 'secret' and maybe they have changed the point value sytem. Heard there was a chat about it, but I missed it.

can you really make money on those things? They all seem to want you to buy something or participate in a trial period etc. If you know of any where you can actually make money I would love to hear about it.

I am not sure about my points. Because I haven't been gathering as much this month. I did hear that to in the chat yesterday there was a comment that now you only get points when someone comments on you items. That you no longer get points for posting comments. Don't know if that is true or not. Just what I heard.

I've never gotten to the cash option. I even did a little experiment in January to see what it takes to get to the cash option.

Faith...My earnings are definitely down as well. I used to make at least $125 - $150 a month here on Gather. So far, for the month of February...I have made around $$60. Like you, this hurts me too...for my money goes to buy groceries....

Ana- Yes you can actually make money. There are a lot of legitimate sites out there that you can earn cash and giftcards and they do not cost you a cent and they don't send spam to your email.

I have noticed that it takes forever for the points to accumulate. I read and comment on quite a few discussions. After reading Rob's discussion I was surprised when he said we don't get points for commenting. We get more points from comments we receive.

I belong to most of the same sites that you do Faith. I guess we may have to be happy with the pennies we receive and hope that they will accumulate quickly. If I come across something that you may be interested in, I will send you a message. Big huggers to you.

I'm earning about 100-150 points a day. It amazes me, because Michelle is earning close to $10-12 a day!

Eh, I just need to start working a bit more, I guess. Hope you do good, Faith!

I'm not on the cash option, but I've definitely had a drop in points, but I haven't spent as much time on Gather has I had in the past either, so that may be my problem. Hope it gets better for you!

Ana - I have a huge list of programs that I participate in, all legit, and I've added how long I've been with the program as well as how much I've earned there - so if you want me to send you that list, I'd be than happy to do it.

Midnight Writer Kim - thanks for feeling my frustration. :o) I wonder how come everything is stuck. I think I've referred pretty much everyone I can refer, ha. My mom is here as well as my mother in law and step mom, and a few friends.

Thanks for checking out my articles... I'm the same way, sometimes I'm just a lurker who only has time to rate an article, but not comment. So I AM looking at my connections, even though it's not noticeable to them.

Chris - I already participate in a ton of programs... but am looking for new things, maybe things that have just been created? The things I don't like though are the pay to click programs... I've done those before and just don't think it's worth it. The only ones I do that are like that are Inboxdollars, Sendearnings and mypoints. Oh, I'm also doing creationrewards too, but those programs aren't really paid to click... they give you points for completing surveys or purchasing through their site.

Send me an email though if you think you've got something up my alley! I'll try anything once. :o)

HMM, I sure wish I knew of that was true about not getting points for commenting. Maybe I wouldn't make such an effort to return comments, etc.

That's the thing I like about BoomerTowne. They TELL you how points are awarded!!

Do you think that maybe they were giving you guys a better point ratio for being guides? My points seem to be the same..100 to 150 pts a day...I do notice that the more I participate, the more points I get.

Ana - How cool that you were able to paint your kitchen and get solar lights and other things! I'm really sorry that you were close to hitting that 3125 mark to get the cash option and then Gather locked you out. I know that was frustrating to a LOT of people!

The whole point system is secret because they don't want people to game the system any more than they already are, you know?

Chuck - aah, heck no! There's no way they were giving us more points for being Guides. I hope not anyway, that would be really unfair to everyone else, especially since the leads were receiving a monthly stipend from Gather and everyone on the team received a quarterly goodie pack that consisted of books, cd's, dvd's and other Gather items.

I just signed up for a place called Web Rides TV and I'm earning points very quickly there. They used to have a referral program, but it has been put on hold until their next promotional period. It is geared towards car lovers, but you can redeem your points for games, clothing, even amazon gift cards. Check it out if you'd like.

My points dont add up like they did when I first joined gather. But back then I was new and not many people talked to me. Now I have friends everywhere that talk to me daily. Friends I never fail to talk to and my rewards sometimes will add up to maybe 30 points a day if I stay sitting here for 10 to 12 hours. That is hard to do. Lately I cannot do it .

Oddly enough, I'd say my daily points have been a lot higher than I'm used to recently. But I have been posting and commenting quite a bit more than I used to.

Oh i bet you get points for commenting.. Unless you get points for looking at and reading the articles.. because all I do pretty much is comment.. and rarely do i get comments on my artiicles (Though I am VERY grateful for the ones I do get!!) LOL.. in fact the most commented article I have had of late was about BoomerTowne and asking for any friends connects LOL, kinda killes my writers side for cinstructive critisim and comments.. But what can you do?

I haven't noticed a decline I suppose.... but it is going slow...

I'm close to getting a Gather GC, but it's taken me a year. I'm also very close to GCs on a bunch of other sites which will help me for Christmas 08 but with the online economic slowdown, I don't know what I'll do in 09.

I've noticed my points are moving really slowly lately, too. I've been so busy with other things, though, that I think that might be part of it. We'll see if they improve when I start spending more time on here again!

I've not been here long enough actively to really notice anything. I'm working hard at getting points, but I feel I could be doing things a bit differently. I hope to get on the cash option, as I have a wedding coming up and any extra money to help pay for things would be wonderful.

Okay, Faith, just how much time does someone have to spend on Gather to qualify for the cash option? I'm currently putting in about 3 hours a day, but my Gather points just don't rise anywhere near fast enough to get to 3,000 in just 1 month.

Edward - I really can't tell you how much time you have to put in each day to earn 3125 points in one calendar month, but I was able to do that very thing back early in 2007 and have been on the cash option ever since. I stay signed into Gather all day and check in every hour or so, just depends on how my day is going or what I have going on. I'm not on Gather for hours at a time, just a few minutes here and there. I remember at that time though I was making sure I was posting 1-2 articles or images a day, commenting back on my own article responding to others and then returning the comment favors to people who visited my content. I also tried to connect with other people who shared my interests so I'd know that when I posted things, they'd want to come check it out. I never sent out mass mails though or posted games... I hope you can reach it one of these days!

Perhaps Tom's assertion that making comments doesn't generate points for the writer is true... and perhaps it's a NEW rule. Sorry to hear it. My usual $age has gone down a lot, too.

for everyone,
and I have also noticed that a lot of Gather people are spending more time at another site similar to this one...
oh, I'm still on the point system...even though I am usually the most commented on person here, it usually takes me 35 days to get that 3150pts.....

this just means my house will be getting a really nice make-over this year...

My points actaully slowed up about month ago. I was climbing daft for a while there and then just boom.... stopped. I never have done the cash thing but I love the Home Depot cards and I am still earning them but it takes longer now to get them. I am not as much a s others but I get into to so much trouble here I usually get a ggod amount of points. I would also mlike to know about the other places like Gather.

I had enough to almost get the cash option. Took two months to get there. Than all of asudden I was done almost 1000 points. I ciontacted Gather and they said I did not earn that much. That it was just a glitch. So, yes I have seen my points go down alot. It really upset me as I was counting on getting the cash option. I also amke alot of comments. I also post several new articles aday. But I can never ever get the comments like everyoen else. So, if we don't get points for commenting anymore. Than after awhile I see members disappearing from Gather. Espically those that comment more than anything..


What site are you talking about that is simialr to Gather that everyone seems to be at?

I see no rhyme or reason. The points seemed to accumulate faster in December around Christmas week and I thought maybe it was a double points gift for awhile.

I hardly earn any points so I don't know how you all seem to be able to earn money. However, I did read that chat and he did say that there are no points given for commenting. I have just over 100 connections and I dont' have 1000 points yet. Not that it is my main reason for being here.
