Walmart has hit a new low here.

I needed to get some soft drinks, or as we call them here cokes, which means any bottler, flavor, can or bottle...lol.   First you ask if someone wants a coke then you ask if they want a 7up, mountain dew...etc.

Walmart, who says they will beat all advertised prices did not this morning.

My local Walmart has decided that if you need a grocer's "card" to get the sale price then you do not get that sale price at Walmart here anymore.  Needless to say I told them to keep their drinks and drove across the street to the Winn - Dixie and bought my sale drinks there.

Not only would they not give you a sale price, they did not have a single can of their brand drinks on the shelves.  So, no deals on drinks there.

The bonus was that once I got to Winn - Dixie I found a few other items on sale there that I needed so I got the drinks cheap and cents off a few other items I needed.

Needless to say, Walmart will not be getting any more of my money for quite some time in the future.  Too bad, I use to spend most of my grocery money there.  No more.

When sales drop they will retaliate, until then money talks, which sucks for the consumer, but hey you went across the street to Winn Dixie, thank God we live in America and have freedom of choice.
The WalMart here gives the same price for milk as the Smith's across the street, but you have to tell them. Otherwise they sell it at their higher price. They are false in their claim that their prices are lower than others' prices. Their slogan is, Always Low Prices, but the catch is that the word "Low" is subjective, like the word "Lite" and has no government regulations. Low can be lower than what it was last week in their own store, not necessarily lower than a competitor's price. Same with the word "lite." It may refer to the color and not the calorie count. Buyers beware still applies!

I have been known to not shop at Walmart for as long as two years. I don't need to go back. If I can't get it at one of my other local grocers, I will buy it online.

Chick you are so right. Also they pay their help next to nothing. WalMart has put more small businesses out of business than the government with their punitive taxes on merchants. A lot of towns would not allow a WalMart so the bought property just outside of town and located there. They under cut with similar but inferrer merchandise and turn the downtown area into a ghost town. At least one state will not allow WalMart in. Every time WalMart moves in the economy of the area drops down.

Wal Mart thinks that they can play by their own rules. My situation with them was that I substitute teach and need to have my mornings free in the event a school calls. They didn't get that. Then I told them that I have church (which is a HELL of a lot more important than they are).  They made me work on Holy Thursday and 2 Easters in a row.  Now here's the kicker... I applied for admission to Florida International University in 2006 to audition for their music department. I made my travel plans to go to Miami in November in May and requested the time off, as per their rules. November rolls around and I check to see if the request went through. It didn't. Why? Because I could NOT take that time off. I play by their rules and they pull this crap! I actually live for the day when Wal Mart goes belly up.

I am sorry you have to resort to Walmart as a job to add extra income as a teacher.  The don't have respect for their employees, and I hope some job in another venue comes available for you.

I rarely shop at Wal-Mart, but I do have friends that price-check a lot. It's a big hassle. I think the fact that everything is cheaper at Wal-Mart is really just a myth.

Peter the coke, you can have a pepsi thing seems to be a Louisiana thing more than a real southern thing. Took a while for me to get use to it when I first moved here. We also don't shop for groceries, we "go make groceries"....lol.

I go to walmart when I do a large amount of food shopping. As I can get two carts full of groceries for the same price as one cart I would get at Publix. When you are a budget and have to feed your family, you do what you got to. Go where you can get the most fo ryour money.

I guess because it is just me and two dogs, I have a bit more luxury to purchase the things I use the most in bulk when they go on sale. I eat a lot of tuna, when it goes on sale 2 cans for $1, I will buy $10 - $15 worth and that holds me for several months till it goes on sale again. Guess it also helps my diet is limited due to stomach surgery 30 years ago.

I have not shopped at Walmart in a long time. I would occasionally stop in to get hard to find items and also use their pharmacy.

Last time I went to their pharmacy it was 1 1/2 hr wait and then I bought over the counter meds that I found to be expired. ( for my child) I returned them and got no apology or anything they actually gave me a hard time lol .

So now I switched pharmacies and I will never shop walmart again.

Winn Dixie probably will treat you much better in the end!

I do find at Winn-Dixie I don't get the attititude from employees I get at wally world.

The nearest WalMart is 50 miles away.  We don't go there very often.  I see no reason to go there for groceries when there is a Safeway 37 miles West of us.  In winter there is a mountain pass to go over to get to Butte where WalMart is.

One time I went to Wal-Mart and they wanted more for a package of Oodles of Noodles than Boner Macintosh's store on the corner of 4th and Tyler Street. I just about went nuts. I grabbed the clerk around the throat and yanked him across the moving conveyor belt. I crammed his face into the rubber and said, "You want to rip me off bitch." I started smashing my styrofoam bowl of noodles on the back of his head until the package ripped and soon dried noodles were everywhere. Some old lady behind me started screaming and I told her to shut the hell up or I'd wack her with a package of Sam's Club peanut butter cups. The pimply faced clerk started bawling like a baby, and I said, Screw this I'm going home.

Guess I am more passive/aggressive. Leave a full basket of food and let them deal with it...lol.
I never shop at Walmart on principal.
