The mail arrived early today. Although I saw the familiar white truck pass my living room window, I was in no particular hurry to check the box since I wasn't really expecting anything. "Guess I'd better look" I thought without much enthusiasm. And there it was, peeking out from among the small pile of bills and usual junkmail
.
A $20 borders gift card (for my comment on one of Sherry W's Father's Day Photos
).
Thanks Gather! Thanks Sherry!
Unfortunately, there isn't a conveniently located Borders store in my neck of the woods - The one and only is almost 25 miles away, so I'm not likely to go there any time soon. Of course, the obvious alternative is to shop on line and pay shipping charges for the privilege.
As I began to explore the Borders website, I was pleased to learn of Borders' affiliation with Amazon.com and I wondered if I could combine my Borders gift card with my gift certificate balance from Amazon. The young man at Borders Customer Service was polite and apologetic as he informed me that I couldn't combine my Borders and Amazon certificates, that I would have to provide a credit card number and that I couldn't use more than one giftcard per purchase. (I already knew that I would have to spend at least $25 to qualify for free shipping). Grr. . .
Although I do appreciate the gift card, me thinks there's something wrong here . . .

Mac n Cheese would be great, Amanda. My grandkids think that's a major food group.
