For the life of me I will never understand some pet owners. I took in what I thought was a stray dog last Monday. I did the right thing, I called all the vets within 25 miles, I called the Humane Society, I left a flyer at my vet's office. I called and placed a found ad in the newspaper.
I happen to be talking to my next door neighbor last night. I was telling her about this dog. She asked me if it was the neighbor's on the other side of her. Now this is two doors from mine. I thought their dog had different hair and body shape. My neighbor said she had not talked to Angie the two door down neighbor. I told her I was going to call them and find out if this was their dog.
Angie husband answered the phone and I asked him if he had been missing Asia, he said yes, I asked has she been gone since last Monday, he said yes. He sent his 12 year old daughter down to get her. Evidently there was a hole in their fence that no one had bothered to cover.
What I want to know is, I live less that 100 feet from these people. They have the 12 yo and an 11 yo. Why did they not send these kids around looking for this dog? The dog was outside every day with my toy poodle to play. When the kids get home from school my dog has to "great" the bus and kids by barking wildly at them. Asia was out there everyday barking also. These kids play ball in the street in front of my house because I do not have ditches in my yard, they shoot hoops across the street from my house. Why did they not come and ask about the dog?
I put a collar on Asia, told the 12 yo to make sure something gets put on it so she can be taken home next time she gets out.
She could easily have been run over, taken my someone who would use her as fight bait for pit bulls, taken by someone who would then abuse her.
Why do people treat their animals like this?
My dog wears a collar with the past two years of his vaccination tags on it so they can call my vet. He also is micro-chipped in case the collar gets lost somehow.
It angers me to see helpless animals not taken care of.
Thanks for letting me gripe...lol. Hope your day goes well.

Just so everyone knows, she is asleep in the picture, not dead....lol. I did not even think of how she looked when I posted it...she is fine. I even cut some mats off her belly...lol.

Taking a dog by a Vet to check for a chip is a good thing to do when finding someones lost pet. Thanks.
I don't understand people at all. Makes me mad too when I see a dog in the back of a truck when the temp is over 100.
They should be made to take Pet Responsibility Classes and pass them before getting an animal that will depend on them.
Sorry for the rant but this just struck a nerve.
