Shopping on the internet saves me time and usually money because I find what I want, buy it and have it delivered. Easy, right? So last night when I couldn't sleep, I turned on my TV and started looking around for something to watch until it was time to go to work. What did I find? One stupid infomercial after another... everywhere. On local channels, on cable channels and on my satellite channels. I have one word to describe these things... UGH!
I didn't want to learn how to snatch 'free' money from government grants or freebies or whatever one annoying guy was peddling...all he needed was an Uncle Sam outfit on.... and a cigar! So off I go, there must be something better. I click to another station... and now I'm offered the buy of a lifetime! How to buy and sell on e-bay. Now a moron can figure out how to buy on ebay, it doesn't take a brain surgeon, and after reading a few simple instructions the same moron can learn to sell; so why does anyone need to pay someone to send them a DVD or a book... whatever he was selling I clicked off him too! What next? How you can make $10,000 a month sitting on your behind doing nothing... I don't know exactly what this guy's pitch was... nor did I wait to find out how much it would cost me to find out I'd been scammed yet again.
Next it was exercise equipment.... I clicked off that quick because next to my bed I have this $700 treadmill that I just had to have and about broke my back trying to get the 200 lb. thing to my bedroom which is on the 2nd floor! And NO, I did not buy the thing because I saw it on an infomercial. I spent months doing research on all kinds of different models so I got one that wasn't going to fall apart two weeks after I got it home.
Honestly... does anybody buy anything off these Infomercials and if you did was it worth whatever you paid for it? I saw real estate scams, govt. grants, weight loss products, and some vacuum cleaner with no bag...(ah yes, everybody needs a $1000 vacuum but... does it really suck up any more dirt than a $79.00 Eureka?) before I finally settled on a 24 hour news channel. It wasn't what I wanted to watch at 3 am, but it was better than most of my alternatives, which seemed to be Infomercials on every channel I might have wanted to watch. I understand that the stations running these things get paid to run them, but what I want to know is WHO buys this stuff? And why do we need a half hour to an hour sales pitch from some guy that looks like he should be on "Slick Bill's Used Car Lot"?
