As Foley Gate continues to grab the headlines, even with North Korea in the news, many Republican Pundits keep trying to spin this shameful time in the history of the Republican Party into some secret conspiracy by the Democrats to GET THEM! Yet, as more news leaks out, it is obvious this Sexual Predator Scandal is Republican through and through, and dates back to at least the year 2000.
The basic arguement that the Democrats orchestrated this scandal revolves around the TIMING of the event, so close to the November elections. Sorry, but that just does not hold water, and if you think about it, you know it is true. This emails and taudry sexual IM's by Foley go clear back to the year 2000. Representative Kolbe (R) has now come forward and admitted he WARNED Foley about his inappropriate communications with Congressional Aides as far back as 2000. This is very disturbing, as it means the Republicans have been HIDING Foley for at least six years, and since before Bush became President. Further, this is PROOF that the Democrats did not orchestrate this scandal.
Bush was selected, not elected into the White House in 2000. He stole the election in 2004 by stealing Ohio. Now, if the Democrats had known about this Foley Gate stuff for as long as the Republicans have known about it, it could have been, would have been deployed in the 2004 or 2000 elections, as it would have been the decisive blow that would have swept a Democrat into the White House.
As this Foley Gate Scandal continues, so do it's accessories to the crime. Representative Sue Kelly (Republican, 19th District in NY) was IN CHARGE of the Page Program when two pages were IMolested by Foley. Further, she was in charge of the Page Program when Rep, Kolbe WARNED FOLEY....curious here...did Kolbe give Sue Kelly a heads up? If not, why not. Either Kolbe dropped the ball, and is a part of the coverup, or Sue Kelly on top of being deliberately ignorant of the Foley situation, is a part of the coverup...which is it?

it should have outraged the republican leadership and they should have taken action. they swept it under the rug because they were protecting foley.
they shouldn't quarrel about whether this hidden matter came out during the election. hastert stuffed this in the back of a hidden closet. ANYONE could have brought this out into the daylight. but i think we're going to find out that it was a republican who was outraged, who didn't have the power to influence congress' oversight of the pages, who started the ball rolling on this. that website that is blamed has been posting since july.
this october surprise has been a ticking time bomb for a long time. it just came to light when the media wrote about it.
It really irritates me how a few Republicans bashed Democrats over making this into a political issue. And, oh, look what the GOP is doing now! "It was the Democrats!" Political issue much?
it's true, rove used them. it's been 6 years and still the republicans haven't done much with the abortion issue, haven't done much in the gay rights area. don't misunderstand me, i don't want such legislation enacted.
but this foley deal is not to blame for the slide. however, some of the evangelicals and family value voters might be reflecting on how strongly the republican politicians are committed to their cause.
the more the democrats talk about sex, the more they will get the social conservatives back up. as noted by someone who posted a comment, when you talk about foley and sex, you are just giving the evangelicals an opportunity to blame it on gay people. blaming the gay guy resolves the cognitive dissonance of the situation and there is no change. the democrats should be talking about the failure of the republican leadership to protect the pages.
his attorney said foley was a secret drinker. well, ok. but blaming his hitting on the pages on that? i don't think so.
The scandal is not sex but the hypocricy of "traditional family values" not least those proclaimed by child-protector Mark Foley and the cover-up by Hastert and other Republicans (including keeping Democrats on the ethics committee uninformed).
Although it is entirely a Republican scandal, it is very minor compared to the lies about conditions in Iraq both before invasion and Bush's recent lie-athons about terror and blaming everyone but himself for the fiasco that was fueld 99.9% by neo-con fantasies and abuses of power by Republicans, Republicans, and Republicans.
Was Barney Frank's live-in lover setting up a prostitution business in their little love nest a relection of democrat corruption?
Why are the sins of one, extrapolated to the many? This has all the hallmarks of being exactly like the Valerie Plame affair. Democrats will lie about the "truth" and then when the truth does come out, and Rove is innocent, Cheney is innocent, the democrats just pretend they are still guilty.
Democrats seem to have embraced the old Nazi habit of repeating lies, to generate the "truth."
"Bush stole the election" was just the first lie, next came the "Bush lied and people died" silliness. Never any proof, in fact, quite often proof that proves the democrats are liars, and yet, the democrats continue to hurl empty accusations.
And they wonder why they haven't had a two term president EXCEPT the self admitted liar, Bill Clinton, since FDR.
Jack Midnight - It's the cover up no the crime - In both of the cases you cited about the Democrats - they did not cover it up - thereby the Dems were treated a little better. The Republicans will be treated better when they do the right thing. It looks like Hastert is about to do just that and things should go better. This is clearly a Republican problem.
I'm quite certain a great many people "knew" about Freako Foley for YEARS, so what? That means there was a "cover up?" What a silly idea.
For a "cover up" to have occurred, there must be collusion, intent, malice. Trying proving that because one gay man had "concerns" in the year 2000.
I'm glad you finally see the light.
I'm so glad someone other than me, of course, finds high humor in such artistic endeavors.
Perhaps you should also mention you're a member of Mensa, eh? Maybe slip in the fact you've won two national spelling bees and took your high school's science fair four years running.
I might just as soon tell you my name is William F Buckley, and the Skull and Bones is just one of my favorite haunts.
Are we now to simply accept whatever madness you present, because you have "qualified" your opinion with an ostensible GPA? What you gain with your confession/bragging is a mystery to me, and you might next add you've won a Pulitzer prize.
Try again ?? Why sir, I would suggest I haven't tried at all, I have done, and done repeatedly what you have not.
Isn't it interesting your strings are the most commented on? Don't you find that interesting Porgie?
The side kick cannot exist without the classic straight man, my brother.
Yes, there is to be an "investigation" to determine who knew what and when...an investigaton guaranteed not to begin until well after the upcoming selection (remember, Diebold is still in the mix and I expect Republicans to be overwhelmingly kept in power). The story and outrage will quietly die sometime in January after Rupert Murdoch buys the rest of the U.S. Media outlets..
Rock on, buddy. Some people seem to be deliberately belligerent around here, if you know who I'm talking about.
That's because you haven't offered up a valid question, merely lies posing as questions.
you have too much anger
That's a rather self serving interpretation by a layman without any credentials to be making such a diagnosis without the benefit of having even met me.
I have no anger at all, simply well thought out positions you are unable to refute.
Kolbe has made it clear he DIDN'T confront Foley, and didn't know about the sexual nature of the content either, he simply passed on the word that a page he had appointed felt "uncomfortable" with the eMail he received from Foley.
Hence, no "cover up."
They just timed it's release.
The republicans didn't invent this story either Alan, Foley did that. But the original story, like many stories the democrats hear, and then retell, was exaggerated as it was retold, and given a kind of significance the original story could never have achieved.
That's the genius of their mendacity, the democrats nearly always refrain from telling out and out lies in the pursuit of the politics of personal destruction, they simply take known facts and create false impressions around those facts.
For example, by Porgie's post above, you might assume Porgie believes Philip and I are paid shills for the RNC. Porgie says the "Republican Party" in caps, to make it oh so official--- "the Republican Party has stooped to using people like jjack and Philip to get out their message"
Isn't this kind of hyperbole meant to incite, and does it even pretend to be insightful?
Does Porgie really believe the "Republican Party" needs Philip or me to rule the world?
You have to wonder about all of the conspiracy theories, and the faulty logic that supports them, and when you wonder, you are forced to consider the very real possibility sanity and logic have abandoned any soul so desperate to believe such things.
Their very language betrays a complete lack of perspective, and belies the emotional nature of their irrational passions.
In short, despite jJack's rantings to the contrary, this is wholly and fully a Republican Scandal...what is sad, is that they cannot OWN THEIR WRONGS.
