Politics and Hate

Leo, I agree to a point, but I still don't believe that cynicism can be an excuse for just blatant hatred. We are showing the world who we are here, and hatred is simply demeaning us as a nation. How can that be justified? To simply say "I told you so" is far less the evil, but, the evil is here in Gather and it's being shown. I am trying to raise people's consciousness to a higher level in their discussions and comments. Let me just say to those who demean others in office and here in Gather, think of what you are showing to the world and to us, as it is a direct reflection of who you are.

My sheer disgust, mistrust, anger toward, and desire to overthrow this sorry excuse we have for an administration is something I express every chance I get, on Gather, at meetings, through letters, in rallies, and with anyone who will listen. I believe, as a decent, intelligent person, it is my duty to protect my country and my world. Anyone who is not countering every word of false information being spewed by this administation and their blind followers is contributing to the destruction. I hope this is a reflection of the person I am, because I take great pride in being this person who cares about the truth and is strong enough to stand behind principles at the cost of alienating people who would rather I keep my thoughts to myself and smile. This is not a smiling situation.

I do, however, share your concern over what it will take for the radical right to whip out their guns and start hurting people. I have thought about that often, and that is another reason I fight so vehemently to rid this country of this administration that promotes cowboy language and killing.

Hate is only shameful when it has been deserved.

the democrats are not the enemy. and the republicans are not the enemy. i am hoping it won't take a dirty bomb to get us all to realize that we are americans. this partisanship is not serving us well.

on the other hand, i think we need to talk about stuff, come to some kind of national consensus. i am hoping this will happen. you have to realize that the media is working against that. they identify their target audiences and want to get them upset in order to sell newspapers/tv time. and they are giving their audiences what they want to see/hear in commentary/entertainment designed to appear as news.

I agree troublemkr s. We can be civil with our comments, which I believe Sandy has been although she is against all in the government now. This is the point of this discussion. We don't need to tear each other apart over political views. Life is precious and we should work together for the betterment of our nation. Tearing others down does not accomplish anything. The media is savvey to what is happening in our nation and they are playing to it and feeding it all in the name of ratings and increased viewership. They all do it.

An opinion can be expressed without any malice toward anyone. It is right to criticize policies and ideas when they aren't working but to insult people is not called for at all.

Here, here, Joe! Americans are by and large very decent people. The fighting amongst ourselves is not very becoming. Personally, I think that 9/11 has hurt us deeply and we need to get beyond this. And, I think that the media and the political climate here just feeds this rage. Please, folks, we can discuss issues rationally and politely. Okay?

Two roosters strutted aroung the farm. Each one carefully looking the other one up and down. They puffed their chests and beet their wings in th air. Suddenly a cyote plodded through the gate lunged at the rooster. Not an instant passed before the cyote fur flew in th eair both roosters digging their spurs into every oppertunity the cyote offered. The cyote changed directions and the roosters stayed after him until he was well claer of their territory.

Some of what you see is not as hatefull as it would appear at first glance. Yet there is some honest hateful disgust for people who take crazy ideals and state them as facts.

I'm with you Gary! We can agree to disagree, but this rhetoric of hate needs to go.
David the rooster thing is the same as a call of domestic violence in a home. Two cops go out on the call, not one. The couple involved in the domestic fight will turn on one cop as they feel threatened. Two cops kind of even up the odds and the case may be resolved sooner with no harm to the officers. Same thing.

Blasting the red stains or the blue stains will not fix what's wrong with America. From my point of view I see Americans trying to hold on to a way of life and when your president curses the very thing he is sworn to uphold you might loose some confidence in his ability to preserve that way of life.

I see Americans believing everything they see or read on the internet to be true.

I also see Americans forwarding anything and everything across emails to tear down or diminish products, people, and yes, our country and President, as you can see here.

I agree in the uglyness but to each their own everyone has to voice their feelings from time to time.
