Shame on you people for not seeing that these poor people are only trying to live..
maybe when you goto hell for being greedy for hell will be behind a fence watching other people eat mcdonalds while you eat dirt
Also, Georgy W. Bush still has to sign the bill for the fence, and just in case he does so and the fence actually gets built , it more than likely will be for show in order to appease those of us who are against illegal immigration.
What's this about the NORTH pouring into the USA just because we're white?
My only reason for even WANTING to be in the USA right now is because my Sweetheart is down there. He would be just as happy in Canada, but with his current job and family situation compared to mind, it would be easier for me to transfer there for a while. This has nothing to do with wanting to sneak into your country, rather with two people in love who want to be together.
Do you really think Canadians are going to want to come pouring into Bush's territory when we have a beautiful wonderful country of our own? A rather arrogant view, in my opinion.

Some states in Mexico, the people dont work but live off of money sent them from people in the United States.. How does this help build a successful economy?
Also, with unimpeded immigration comes the criminals from Mexico. we have our own problems with crime to solve. How many police officers have been killed by the criminals that come from uninterupted border crossings? Officer Johnson from Houston Texas was just killed last week, and a teacher killed and his wife left in a coma from a person arrested 4 times for D.U.I and deported 9 times for being an illegal alien.
The fence is only a tool used to control the flow of migration. This is not the Berlin wall.. Berlin wall was designed to keep people in, This wall is only one tool in a step to gain operational control of our borders..
And if the Mexican government is to keep sending their poor and problems to the United States, what is their incentive to get their country in order?

That said, there was a sobering piece on CNN last night about the fruit farmers in California. There was a bumper crop this year, but because of the border crackdown, they can't get anyone to pick it and most of it is rotting on the trees and ground. $13 an hour goes a long way in Mexico, but Americans think they deserve more.
However, if one is a legal citizen, that same $13 is taxed by 40%, then taxed again when it is spent, leaving a remaining balance of approximately $5/hour...
At the higher cost of living here in the U.S., that $5/hr doesn't go very far.
I am the first to recognize that the poverty situation in Mexico is horrible, and it's people come here for a better life. But, they should come here legally, pay taxes, and do everything WE all have to do to live here.
Right now, they can send ALL that $13/hr HOME.....I can't. I get to take home my paltry $5/hr....and realize that my taxes go to support the health and welfare of my Mexican neighbor.....right here in my own backyard, and they aren't paying any taxes to help support our schools, welfare programs, or roadways.
I'm not so sure a fence is such a good idea....but making the legal immigration process easier could be a solution.
Let's not forget alll the people trying for years, jumping through all the hoops, to become legal immigrants to the U.S.......
Should we make a fence, or make the process for legal immigration less complicated?
Just a thought...
Also... it is illegal to hire someone who is NOT legally here....if we enforce our own laws and crack down on the employers who hire illegals, that would probably help a lot. You realize these employers aren't paying taxes when they hire illegals, don't you? These employers, our own legal citizens, are cheating the U.S. taxpayer.
And, yes, Arthur...you have a VERY good point. These farmers should not be hiring illegals....and your approach with mechanization is a valid one.
What can be done to ensure that those travelling and staying LEGALLY in the USA don't have unnecessary prolems? This whole immigration thing is bugging the crap out of me, because by the time my own situation allows me to visit the USA, I am worried I won't be able to.
A good immigration system that is enforced is vital so that local governemnts know how to adapt the local infrastructures... Health Care.... schools... Law Enforcement or jails... These things take time to build and having controlled immigration allows for local governements to do their jobs and adapt to a changing populus.
The economy would PROFIT, since we would have LEGAL, TAXPAYING citizens residing here, not illegals taking advantage of our health care, school, law enforcement systems...for free...
All the teenagers working after school or during college are already competing with illegal aliens- who are not helping to pay for these student's schooling via taxes.
If you haven't noticed, we already HAVE an influx of workers taking jobs...they just don't pay taxes.
Our economy would improve if we had TAX PAYING legal immigrants who helped sustain this country.
