Why Why WHy?????

I have not logged onto Gather in many months. I logged in this morning, hoping to read some interesting articles, many post some of my photos and write and article or 2. What I found has really ticked me off,  1800 messages from members wanting me to read the articles that they have posted. This makes me angry because now I have to spend the time deleting 1800 messages. If I want to read the articles then I will, I will not be prompted by emails pointing me in that direction. Are you frustrated by this also?

Welcome back! I normally go thru my messages about 1 time per week. A lot of them are from folks wanting you to check out their latest work and that's cool with me. But they really don't have to because I try to check out their work anyway.

I agree with you Brian. I always look at others articles and photos. It is just annoying.

I put on my friends that I wanted to get notified when they post something, don't get hardly any thing from my friends.

Welcome Back! Well, if I do not want to read anyone's posts, I just uncheck that box and like Joanne, I look at the title, if it does not interest me, I delete it. The title has to grab me and pull me in.

I get them sent to a special folder in my email from Gather but haven't gotten PMs from people to check out pages.

If you want to delete a bunch at one time. try this...... Highlight one......hold down the shift key........go down your list of what you want to delete.,,,,,click on the last one. Now everything should be highlighted. Hit enter and the high lighted ones should vanish. Now you can do it again.. till they are all gone..hope that will help....read mine and look at my pictures though..
Most of these I have on a sort of Gather do not call list that eliminates the e-mails from these people who want to notify you every time they inhale. I'm not bothered at all by these anymore.

I make it a policy never to look at posts when I get emails asking me to do so (unless it is specifically related to what I am interested in at the moment anyway). "Friends" who have sent me too many such emails I have defriended.

Like Libramoon, I don't read the posts when I receive a message. Always, I block the senders and often I disconnect.
I usually block the sender if it's a mass email.

If it's someone who sends out mass emails on a regular basis, I block the person. Plus, I have removed myself from several groups that were connected with the problem of mass emails. This hasn't completely eliminated the issue, but it has decreased the problem to a somewhat manageable level.

I understand what you are saying. I don't mind a couple of messages, but when I get a million different messages about one post it gets a bit annoying.
