You can always ask in a round about way what's going on with his life...if he's seeing anyone special...things along those lines. Over the course of getting to know him once again, if the friendship is rekindling, you can always come right out and ask him. If he's able to have his items found on Google; he's probably not all that secretive about his sexuality. Most gays will be very up-front and honest if asked by a friend.

I haven't had a situation like that.
But I did have a boyfriend come out to me, and STILL had the nerve to ask me to stay with him so his family wouldn't know.
I said no, and we remained friends for quite some time, and I was there when he came out to his parents.

I had another friend dating a guy who was bisexual, and she commented on how they liked to go to the mall and pick out guys that they both thought were hot... I think I would draw the line before I would do that.... lol.

As for advice, I don't really know, so I would take Rob's advice.

Not like that but something similar. Some years ago I put my name in a site called "classmates.com" that is high school and work histories etc. People try to connect with old friends etc.
Anyway, I got an email from the site saying I had a message from an old best freind there 2 weeks ago. I have not spoken to him in like 30 years! All excited I tried to read the message, but it won't let me unless I PAY to join the Gold Members or something... what!
It will let you respond though, even if you can't read it... weird. So I sent a response... and waited... waited some more... nothing. Then it occurred to me that maybe he isn't a Gold guy either, can't read it, and like me will refuse to pay, LOL. I just bet.... kinda sucks.
The whole thing is sort of a bummer... maybe I should just pay the money? What if I pay and in the message there is no outside email address listed? ..... arrgh.

Kind of. There was a guy I dated for a while, and really liked. I finally got up the nerve to tell him how I felt and that's when he told me that "he loved me as much as he could love any woman", and that he was gay. I was heartbroken and also mad that he lead me on. (He wasn't "out of the closet", and this was in the 90's, so it wasn't like this was some big secret in society.)

Never had that situation sorry, I was a child bride! LOL!

I agree Elisa. I will remain his friend regardless of his sexual preferences. I will not judge him, it is not my place to do that.

Just ask him what he's doing now and I bet he gets around to it.

I am no longer a member of that site because hardly anyone from my class posts there. There are more on Facebook and Myspace which are free.

Just mention that you saw his ads and was wondering if that was him....that way it gives him an out [no pun intended] if he's not ready to tell you or opens the door for communication if it is him.....either way he will know that you know.

I wouldn't ask unless he told you. As some gays are still in the closet.

I have been in a similar situation. I was an EMT and had a fellow EMT friend that hung out in a group with us. While I suspected it, it wasn't something I just asked. She did end up telling me once we really became friends and hung out more.

One of my former really good friends was gay and came out to me thinking I'd reject him. I told him so what. You are my friend and I love you no matter what.

things that make you go hmmm...this was Arsenio Hall line...Your old boyfriend may be experimenting or maybe he was always down low. However, I would just ask him who he is dating now? If he says a woman ...he is down low. If he says a guy he is out of the closet.
