Secrets and Lies

I recently wrote an article about a lie that I told my husband. This lie came back to haunt me. Once I told my husband the truth, it seemed a little foolish but at the time it made sense to do.

My question is what is the worst lie that you have told or secret that you kept? Would you do it again? Was anyone harmed or hurt by your lie or secret?

Thanks for sharing. If I had any secrets and I told it here it wouldn't be a secret anymore. Then everyone would know..

Hi Lori! I am with Larry on this one. I don't think there is anyone without secrets. For me, with most of my secrets, there is at least one person in the world who knows about it. :), in that respect I probably don't have any secrets..hehe. I don't think any of my secrets hurt anyone yet, but a lot of them actually saved people from getting hurt..and some secrets are not even mine, I just have to keep them for others. :)
I can't say I have any secrets but there are some things I don't tell certain people-only because they may take it the wrong way!

The worst secret I ever kept was my sexual preference. I was lying to myself more than anyone else. Though I dated females and was even engaged a couple of times (but never married), I wasn't happy with myself until I accepted who I really was. I never hurt anyone else by not revealing details, but since I've accepted my true self, I've become closer to some people in my life. The person who helped me the most is my best friend, whom I'll forever be indebted to for helping me through such a rough period in my life. If I had things to do over again, I'd come to terms with reality a lot sooner in life and maybe I'd have a lot more happiness now. Unfortunately, I waited too long in life and now run the risk of being alone (without a partner) forever.

i remember a time when i should have just flat out told the truth, but i was scared, and it turned out worse when i tried to cover it up because covering it up hurt the person i lied to more than the actual thing i did. finally when the truth came out it made me look like even more of a jerk for not telling the truth in the first place and letting them suffer with the lie. i dont know if any of that made sense, but yeah. lies suck sometimes!

I was lied to a long time ago and I have never gotten over that. I have dealt with it but never gotten over it. To this day, I do not tell lies.

I have a few secrets and yes maybe one day people will be hurt by them, But right now they are secret.
